The Lakers had the Warriors on the ropes early Friday night at Chase Center, and for a while it looked like Luka Doncic was about to turn Golden State’s two-game winning streak into a dead end.
Los Angeles ripped out to a 40-15 lead in the second quarter after an Austin Reaves free throw, with Doncic cooking and the Warriors stuck in chase mode. But the game flipped hard in the second period, and once Golden State found its footing, the whole night changed.
De'Anthony Melton sparked the turnaround with 13 points and three made 3-pointers in the second quarter alone. Golden State poured in 38 points in the frame while the Lakers managed just 15, shooting 5-of-22 and going 0-for-9 from beyond the arc. By halftime, the Warriors had erased a 25-point deficit and walked into the locker room tied 53-53.
The back-and-forth carried into the second half. The Lakers came out strong again and built a nine-point edge midway through the third quarter, but the Warriors kept answering. Steph Curry started to take over, scoring 17 of his 31 points after halftime to swing the momentum back Golden State’s way.
Golden State carried a five-point lead into the fourth quarter and then shut the door. The Warriors outscored the Lakers 27-15 in the final period and finished off a 112-95 comeback win.
Curry led the way with 31 points on 11-of-23 shooting, knocking down eight 3-pointers in 31 minutes. Brandin Podziemski added 21 points, six assists and five rebounds in 37 minutes.
The Warriors’ bench also delivered a major edge, outscoring the Lakers’ reserves 50-7. Melton finished with 16 points off the bench, and Georges Niang added 11.
Doncic still put up the biggest scoring night of the game, finishing with 37 points along with seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks. But his matchup with Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg went Golden State’s way.
Lendeborg had four points on 2-of-3 shooting, grabbed one rebound, handed out no assists and committed five turnovers. He fouled out with under three minutes left for the first time in his rookie season.
The win pushed the Warriors to 3-3 on the season. They’ll have Saturday off before hosting the Los Angeles Clippers at Chase Center on Sunday afternoon.

Warriors Center Problem Looks Worse As Former Big Man Thrives Elsewhere
Quinten Post is wasting no time making his new team look smart. After leaving Golden State in restricted free agency, the big man has started the season strongly with the Memphis Grizzlies, helping fuel their undefeated start and giving them another useful piece on a defense that has been tough to crack. Memphis signed Post to a three-year contract, a move that stands in sharp contrast to the Warriors decision not to keep him around.
For Golden State, the timing only sharpens the concern in the middle. Kristaps Porzingis is still away from the roster, and his absence has left the Warriors thinner than they want to be up front. Watching a former center thrive elsewhere while the current rotation remains unsettled does not make the situation any easier, especially with the season already offering an early reminder of how much the position still matters. Warriors Turned An Ugly Lakers Night Into A Statement Win
The Warriors turned a rough opening against the Lakers into one of their most complete wins of the young stretch, erasing a 23-point deficit and rolling to a 112-95 victory. Steph Curry led the charge with 31 points, and in the process moved past Dominique Wilkins on the NBAs all-time scoring list, while Brandin Podziemski and DeAnthony Melton gave Golden State a much-needed lift off the bench after an error-filled start.
It was the kind of night that could have spiraled quickly after the Lakers fast first quarter and Golden States early turnovers, but instead the Warriors settled in and took control the way contenders do. The comeback delivered a third straight win and offered another reminder that, even on a night when the opening minutes go sideways, this group still has enough shot-making and depth to flip the script. Warriors Suddenly Face A Brutal Test Without Curry And Draymond
The Warriors are heading into a tough spot against the Clippers with two of their most important veterans suddenly unavailable. Stephen Curry is out with a right knee injury, while Draymond Green will miss the game because of a bilateral low back injury, leaving Golden State to regroup after a win over the Lakers in which Curry poured in 31 points and Green handed out nine assists.
For a team that leans so heavily on Currys shot-making and Greens orchestration at the other end, the timing makes this a far more difficult test than it looked a few days ago. The injury report has turned a marquee matchup into a chance for the Warriors to show how much depth they can summon without the two players who usually set the tone for everything they do.
