Stephen Curry’s latest appearance in Beijing has set off a fresh wave of offseason nerves among Warriors fans, and it all started with a short video that showed the superstar walking with a slight limp.
Curry is in China for Li-Ning’s Wide Open Tour, which runs from Sept. 9 to 14 and includes stops in Beijing, Dongguan and Shenzhen. He is also scheduled to visit Hong Kong during the trip, marking his return there for the first time in a little over a decade.
For fans, the tour is a chance to see one of the league’s biggest names up close. For the internet, it became fuel for a new round of speculation almost immediately.
The concern came from a clip of Curry arriving in Beijing for a morning workout. The video spread quickly and, because he appeared to be limping, it was enough to send NBA fans into injury theories.
“Father time about to claim another one. The walk shows the joint mileage,” an NBA fan declared.
Another offered a more grounded read: “This is quite normal. That age is kicking in.
Everyone knows how that first step goes after you get up from sitting down have long periods of time. Those joints got tons of mileage…”
And one Warriors fan pushed back on the panic altogether: “He’s going in for a workout if he was cooked he ain’t working out. It’s in the morning with no stretching. Thats what athletes look like overacting for no reason,”
At this point, there’s been no official word from Li-Ning, the Warriors or Curry’s camp saying he’s dealing with an injury. Curry did battle runner’s knee during the 2025-26 NBA season, but that issue was resolved.
So the limp could be something as simple as soreness after a hard workout or the stiffness that comes from a long car ride. Either way, the clip alone doesn’t give much reason for alarm.
The bigger unresolved question remains Curry’s future, and that’s still hanging out there without a decision. The Warriors have already made their position clear in extension talks and have built out a full roster around him, but Curry has yet to make his move on a possible two-year, $136.7 million deal.
