Seth Curry Officially Returns to Warriors, Set to Join Brother Stephen for First Time in Regular Season
The Warriors are bringing back a familiar sharpshooter - and this time, it's a family affair.
Seth Curry has officially signed with Golden State for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, marking a significant addition to the roster and a meaningful moment for the Curry family. For the first time in their NBA careers, Seth and Stephen Curry will share the court as teammates during the regular season.
This move has been in the works for a while. After spending training camp with the Warriors earlier this fall, Seth was waived in mid-October - not due to performance, but because of the financial gymnastics required by the NBA’s second-apron hard cap.
His veteran minimum salary simply didn’t fit under the cap at the time. But the plan was always to find a way to bring him back once the numbers made sense.
That time is now.
By waiting until December to finalize the deal, the Warriors were able to sign Curry to a prorated veteran minimum contract that fits just under the hard cap. His cap hit for the rest of the season will come in at $1.76 million, leaving Golden State with around $264,000 in breathing room - not much, but enough to stay compliant. If he finishes the season with the team, Curry will earn a total salary of $2.78 million.
From a roster standpoint, this is a savvy addition. Curry is a proven three-point specialist with 11 years of NBA experience and one of the purest shooting strokes in the league.
Last season with the Hornets, he led the NBA in three-point percentage, hitting a blistering 45.6% from deep on 182 attempts. That’s not a small sample - that’s elite efficiency.
Over his career, he’s averaged 10.0 points per game while shooting 43.3% from beyond the arc, numbers that speak to his consistent value as a floor spacer.
At 6’1”, Curry isn’t going to anchor your defense or run your offense for extended stretches, but that’s not what Golden State needs from him. What he brings is spacing, shooting gravity, and instant offense off the bench - all things that fit perfectly into the Warriors’ system, especially alongside a second unit that can sometimes struggle to generate perimeter scoring.
And let’s not overlook the storyline here: this is the first time the Curry brothers will suit up together in a regular-season NBA game. Stephen has spent his entire career in Golden State, becoming the face of the franchise and one of the most transformative players in league history.
Seth has carved out his own path, bouncing around the league and proving himself as one of the most reliable shooters in the game. Now, they’ll share the same locker room, the same jersey, and potentially the same backcourt minutes - a unique chapter in both their careers.
For the Warriors, this is a low-risk, high-reward signing. For the Currys, it’s a dream realized.
And for fans? It’s going to be a lot of fun watching two of the game’s best shooters - who also happen to be brothers - light it up in the same uniform.
