Stephen Curry carried the Golden State Warriors through a bruising night against the Phoenix Suns, and they still had to grind every inch for it. Golden State came away with a 116-113 win in a matchup that stayed physical from start to finish, with Curry doing the heavy lifting once again.
The Warriors’ star guard finished with 34 points, seven assists and six rebounds, adding five made threes and a huge 11-for-12 mark at the free-throw line. Even on a night when Golden State didn’t shoot it especially well, Curry kept finding ways to bend the game in the Warriors’ favor.
Phoenix actually had the cleaner shooting night overall, hitting 47.1% from the field to Golden State’s 42.9%. The Suns controlled much of the action, but the Warriors made up ground at the stripe and on the offensive glass. Golden State also shot just 31.0% from three, which made Curry’s shot-making even more vital.
Behind Curry, the Warriors got important scoring from several places. Brandin Podziemski scored 20 points, while Yaxel Lendeborg added 16 points and five assists. The bench also gave Golden State a real lift, with Charles Bassey and Georges Niang combining for 32 points.
Curry earned the top mark in the player ratings, and it was easy to see why. He was the engine all night, even if the efficiency wasn’t perfect.
He went 9-for-21 from the field in 33 minutes, but the free throws and late-game control made the difference. The line also included one steal and three turnovers.
Bassey turned into one of the night’s biggest surprises. In 23 minutes, he put up 19 points and eight rebounds while shooting 7-for-10 from the field. He also added five free throws, giving the Warriors a strong scoring punch when they needed someone other than Curry to step up.
Podziemski gave Golden State another steady scoring option, finishing with 20 points, three rebounds and two assists. He hit three threes and went 7-for-15 overall, though the three turnovers kept his night from being cleaner.
Lendeborg was less efficient from the floor, but he still found a way to make a real impact. He scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out five assists while also recording a steal and a block. His 8-for-9 shooting at the line helped keep his scoring line moving.
Niang was efficient and productive in his minutes, scoring 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting. He also chipped in four rebounds and three assists without turning it over, which made his bench minutes especially valuable in a game where the Warriors needed every bit of offense they could get.
De’Anthony Melton’s night was split between defense and offense. He only scored two points and shot 1-for-9, including 0-for-5 from deep, but he finished with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Draymond Green logged 17 minutes and posted four points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal, while avoiding mistakes.
Will Richard scored six points and grabbed five rebounds, adding a block in 28 minutes despite an uneven shooting night. Gary Payton II had a tougher offensive outing, finishing with two points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal while going 1-for-3 from the field.
Graham Ike saw seven minutes of action, and LJ Cryer appeared briefly for one minute and missed his lone shot.

Warriors Fans Are Split Over An Awkward Valkyries Tribute Moment
The Valkyries championship run gave the Bay Area a new title to celebrate, and the Golden State Warriors made sure to spotlight it the next day at Chase Center. During a timeout, the team held a recognition ceremony for the WNBA champions, who had just capped their season with a Game 7 win over the Atlanta Dream and became the fastest expansion team to win a championship in American major sports leagues. Gabby Williams, who scored 30 points in the clincher, was named MVP.
The presentation was meant to be a feel-good moment for the home crowd, with the trophy brought out for fans to see, but the reaction in the building was not as seamless as the organization probably hoped. The mixed response underscored how tricky these crossover celebrations can be, even when the accomplishment is a historic one for the same market. For a Warriors fan base used to big-stage basketball, the tribute became its own talking point almost as much as the title itself. [Read more 🡒]
Warriors Fans Had An Awkward Reaction To Golden States Latest Title Celebration
The Valkyries championship run gave the Bay Area another banner-worthy moment to celebrate, and the Warriors made sure to mark it the next day at Chase Center. Golden State hosted a recognition ceremony during its game against the Clippers, with the WNBA club bringing out its trophy in front of the crowd after becoming the fastest expansion team to win a title in American major sports leagues.
Gabby Williams, who earned Finals MVP honors after a 30-point effort in Game 7 against the Atlanta Dream, stood at the center of the celebration as the franchise soaked in the moment. But the atmosphere carried an awkward edge from some Warriors fans, turning what should have been a straightforward salute into a scene that said as much about the mood in the building as it did about the championship itself. Draymond Green Put Warriors In A Brutal Spot Against Phoenix
Draymond Greens night against Phoenix turned into a familiar kind of Warriors headache in a hurry. In the third quarter, Green was ejected after picking up two technical fouls tied to physical exchanges with Suns players Khaman Maluach and Dillon Brooks, leaving Golden State to regroup in the middle of a game it was trying to keep within reach.
Before he was sent off, Green had put together a modest line with four points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal, but his exit came at a costly moment. The Warriors were already trailing 71-62 when he left, and from there the challenge only got steeper for a team that needed his presence on both ends to steady things. [Read more 🡒]
