The Golden State Warriors are navigating a challenging season without two of their key players, Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. Curry's return isn't being rushed, while Butler is sidelined for the rest of the season due to injury. Despite these setbacks, there’s a buzz around the Warriors' potential future moves, particularly involving a certain NBA superstar.
NBA insider Marc J. Spears recently shared some intriguing insights during an appearance on 95.7 The Game.
He revealed that Giannis Antetokounmpo was the only non-Warriors player at Curry’s All-Star gathering. This has sparked speculation about the Warriors' interest in the Milwaukee Bucks' standout player.
Spears noted, “Steph knows that they’re gonna try to do everything in their power to get somebody big… It’s interesting because I went to Steph Curry’s All-Star party. There was only one non-Warrior that came: Giannis.”
The Warriors’ interest in Giannis is no secret. They reportedly had a blockbuster offer ready at the trade deadline but realized the Bucks weren’t open to dealing their two-time MVP midseason. This focus on Giannis meant the Warriors passed on pursuing Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies.
While the Warriors are eyeing significant roster changes in the offseason, fans are eager for updates on Curry’s return. Head coach Steve Kerr provided some reassurance after a recent practice, dismissing any notion of shutting Curry down for the season.
“Absolutely not. That hasn’t been a conversation,” Kerr stated.
Curry is expected to be reevaluated in about 10 days, as the team carefully balances competitiveness with ensuring Curry’s full recovery.
