Stephen Curry Surpasses Michael Jordan With Stunning Post-30 Scoring Milestone

Stephen Curry continues to redefine greatness after 30, eclipsing Michael Jordan with a record-setting performance that highlights both his brilliance and the Warriors' ongoing challenges.

Stephen Curry just added another chapter to his already legendary career-and this one comes with some serious history attached. On Sunday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, Curry poured in 48 points in just 35 minutes, setting a new NBA record for the most 40-point games after turning 30.

That’s right-he’s now ahead of Michael Jordan in that category. Let that sink in.

Curry’s been rewriting the record books for years, but this milestone carries extra weight. Passing MJ in any scoring metric is rare air.

And the way he did it? Pure Steph.

He shot 16-of-26 from the field, including a jaw-dropping 12 three-pointers. That’s his fifth career game with 12 or more threes-no one else in NBA history has done that even three times.

Even with that offensive explosion, the Warriors couldn’t quite close it out, falling 136-131 to Portland. Curry dropped 21 of his 48 in the fourth quarter, trying to will Golden State to a comeback win, but the Blazers held firm. It was one of those games where Curry gave you everything-and then some-but the team just couldn’t get enough stops down the stretch.

After the game, Curry didn’t sugarcoat the issues. He pointed to defensive breakdowns, missed assignments, and poor execution in key moments.

“There were a couple breakdowns on the ball, switches, letting them walk into threes,” he said. “And then there were breakdowns on drives, swings to the corner-leaving capable shooters open.

We know we can’t turn the ball over. There were definitely moments where we needed to take control of the game and not let them have life.”

Still, Curry emphasized the team’s fight. “They’re a relentless team,” he added. “I think tonight was a mixture of everything, but we were resilient to give ourselves a chance.”

That resilience is going to be tested. The loss drops Golden State to 13-14 on the season, and with the Western Conference as competitive as ever, every game matters.

Up next? A tough matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.

But even in a loss, Curry’s brilliance was undeniable. Performances like this are why names like Carmelo Anthony have thrown Curry into the GOAT conversation-yes, even ahead of LeBron James.

Whether or not you buy into that debate, one thing’s clear: Curry isn’t slowing down. At 37, he’s still torching defenses, still pulling up from 30 feet like it’s a layup, and now, officially, doing it more prolifically than anyone else his age ever has.

Records fall. Legends rise.

And Steph Curry? He just keeps doing both.
