Stephen Curry isn’t giving the Warriors any reason to worry about his future.
As he enters the twilight of a career that began in 2009 and has already produced four championships for Golden State from 2015 to 2022, Curry says he expects to finish where it all started. Even with plenty of outside chatter about a possible late-career move for one more title push, he made it clear he wants his story to stay tied to the Warriors.
“There’s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen. The deal and the contract stuff will happen at the right time, and we’re not letting it be a distraction from our preparation for the season," Curry said to NBC Sports Bay Area's Dalton Johnson about his contract with the Warriors.
He also pointed to the group Golden State is bringing back, emphasizing the comfort that comes with familiarity.
"The fact that the team we’re coming back with has a lot of familiarity. Hopefully we can be healthy and just have a chance to show what we’re capable of, myself included, missing so many games last year."
Curry has been the franchise centerpiece for years, with Draymond Green alongside him since 2012 as the pair that has helped define this era of Warriors basketball. But even with Green’s presence, Curry remains the clear foundation. His connection to the Bay Area runs deep, and he wants to be one of the rare stars who spends an entire career with one team.
That commitment comes as the Warriors try to sort out the bigger basketball problem: how to build a roster good enough to keep Curry in the hunt.
