Steph Curry's absence continues to be a concern for the Golden State Warriors, as the star guard will miss at least five more games due to persistent pain in his right knee. The team announced this update before their matchup against the Boston Celtics.
Curry has been dealing with "runner's knee" since late last month, and Thursday's game marks his sixth consecutive absence. While an MRI showed no structural damage, the Warriors are optimistic that additional rest will help alleviate the discomfort.
This setback means Curry, having played 39 out of 55 games this season, won't meet the 65-game requirement for All-NBA team consideration or other postseason accolades. The Warriors had hoped for Curry's return to practice following the All-Star break, but he reported ongoing discomfort, delaying his comeback.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr commented, “He just wasn’t quite feeling right. Players know their bodies best, and Steph knew it wasn’t time for a full practice.”
Kerr also mentioned that Curry will be re-evaluated in 10 days. During this period, Curry is set to miss five games, including a home game against the LA Clippers on March 2, followed by a three-game road trip starting in Houston on March 5.
“There’s plenty of hope he’ll be ready after the extended rest,” Kerr added. “But it’s just lingering soreness.
We were hoping he’d be back after the All-Star break, but it wasn’t the case. He just needs more time.”
The Warriors are undoubtedly eager for Curry's return, as his presence is crucial for their playoff push. Fans and the team alike are hopeful that this period of rest will be the remedy needed for Curry to return to his peak performance.
