Klay Thompson’s first trip back to Chase Center with the Miami Heat is on the books.
The Golden State Warriors will get an early look at the new version of Thompson’s career when they host Miami on Nov. 5, the first real homestand of the 2026-27 regular season. It will be Thompson’s return to the Bay Area with his new team, and it also sets up the Warriors’ first matchup with the Heat since Miami’s offseason headline move for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Thompson landed in Miami after agreeing to a buyout with the Dallas Mavericks and then signing a two-year deal with the Heat, joining Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in South Beach.
Since leaving the Bay Area two seasons ago, Thompson has already seen Golden State four times. He’s gone 2-2 in those games, averaging 20 points while shooting 43.1% from the field and 47.7% from 3-point range.
One of those meetings stood out: Thompson scored 29 points and hit seven 3-pointers in a Mavericks win over the Warriors in San Francisco in Dec. 2024.
The Warriors and Heat split their two games last season. Miami took the first one, a 110-96 win in November at home.
Norman Powell scored 25 points for the Heat, while Brandin Podziemski led Golden State with 20. The Warriors were missing Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Al Horford in that game.
Golden State briefly moved ahead in the third quarter before Miami took control in the fourth.
The rematch went the Warriors’ way in a much bigger fashion. Golden State rolled to a 135-112 victory, with Podziemski putting up 24 points and Curry finishing with 19 points and 11 assists. But that game came with a major blow for the Warriors, as Butler suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third quarter against his former team.
After the Nov. 5 meeting in San Francisco, the teams will meet again in Miami on Jan. 17, 2027.

Now the conversation around Lendeborg is shifting from Summer League success to actual responsibility, and that is where the intrigue starts for Golden State.
