Draymond Green Put Warriors In A Brutal Spot Against Phoenix

In a heated showdown against the Suns, Draymond Green's ejection marks yet another fiery chapter in his ongoing rivalry with Dillon Brooks.

The Warriors’ night in Phoenix took a sharp turn in the third quarter Monday at Chase Center, when Draymond Green was tossed after a chaotic sequence with Suns center Khaman Maluach and forward Dillon Brooks.

Green was first hit with one technical foul for the play on Maluach, then another for his interaction with Brooks. That was enough to send him off for the night, while Brooks also received a technical in the aftermath of the scuffle.

Green’s exit left Golden State without one of its key players for the rest of the game. He finished with four points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and a minus-6 in his return to the lineup after missing the Warriors’ win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

At the time of publish, Golden State was trailing Phoenix 71-62.

Green had been back on the floor with Stephen Curry, who also sat out the Warriors’ loss in Phoenix during the first week of the NBA season. That game was Golden State’s last defeat before the team rattled off its current four-game winning streak.

Through the 2026-27 season so far, Green is averaging 3.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game.

The Green-Brooks tension has been well documented, though Suns coach Jordan Ott has spoken highly of Green in the past.

“We also can never doubt his drive, his intelligence, his ability to fit in every scenario possible,” Ott said on Green last season.

“You got to find a way to fit in, no matter what your role is. Provide value in whatever it is and continue to evolve. I think that’s what he’s done as a player, to the highest level possible.”

This wasn’t Green’s first run-in during a Suns game, either. Not long ago in Phoenix, he elbowed Jusuf Nurkic in the head, and Nurkic later said, "That brother needs help," after the game.

Now the Warriors have to try to finish the night without one of the players who usually anchors everything they do.

Warriors Fans Are Split Over An Awkward Valkyries Tribute Moment

The Valkyries championship run gave the Bay Area a new title to celebrate, and the Golden State Warriors made sure to spotlight it the next day at Chase Center. During a timeout, the team held a recognition ceremony for the WNBA champions, who had just capped their season with a Game 7 win over the Atlanta Dream and became the fastest expansion team to win a championship in American major sports leagues. Gabby Williams, who scored 30 points in the clincher, was named MVP.

The presentation was meant to be a feel-good moment for the home crowd, with the trophy brought out for fans to see, but the reaction in the building was not as seamless as the organization probably hoped. The mixed response underscored how tricky these crossover celebrations can be, even when the accomplishment is a historic one for the same market. For a Warriors fan base used to big-stage basketball, the tribute became its own talking point almost as much as the title itself. [Read more 🡒]

Warriors Fans Had An Awkward Reaction To Golden States Latest Title Celebration

The Valkyries championship run gave the Bay Area another banner-worthy moment to celebrate, and the Warriors made sure to mark it the next day at Chase Center. Golden State hosted a recognition ceremony during its game against the Clippers, with the WNBA club bringing out its trophy in front of the crowd after becoming the fastest expansion team to win a title in American major sports leagues.

Gabby Williams, who earned Finals MVP honors after a 30-point effort in Game 7 against the Atlanta Dream, stood at the center of the celebration as the franchise soaked in the moment. But the atmosphere carried an awkward edge from some Warriors fans, turning what should have been a straightforward salute into a scene that said as much about the mood in the building as it did about the championship itself. Warriors May Regret Letting This Preseason Standout Slip Away

Dalen Terrys preseason run with the Warriors was one of those stretches that can make a front office pause later. The 6-foot-6 wing spent training camp and preseason in Golden State, flashed in a notable preseason game, and showed enough that he at least entered the conversation as a possible fit on the roster.

Instead, the Warriors never opened a standard NBA contract for him, and Oklahoma City moved quickly once it had a roster spot available and injuries creating a need. Terry has four NBA seasons of experience, and the Thunder were able to turn that opening into a two-year standard deal, leaving Golden State to wonder whether it passed on a useful piece it had already had in house.
