Draymond Green didn’t waste much time putting a leash on Yaxel Lendeborg’s viral LeBron James pitch.
The Warriors rookie made noise recently by trying to recruit the free agent to Golden State, but Green made it clear on The Draymond Green Show that the move was more noise than substance. His message to the rookie was simple: worry about your own game first.
“I think the pitch is pointless, you know,” Green said on his podcast. “But it’s fine. Training camp is coming soon enough and you know, got to rain the rookie in a little bit.”
Green later doubled down on the same idea while addressing Lendeborg’s attempt to lure James to the Warriors.

That response fits the role Green has long played in Golden State. He’s a longtime friend of James, but he’s also one of the Warriors’ main voices in the locker room, and he’s not shy about reminding younger players where they fit in the pecking order. Lendeborg’s public push gave Green a chance to draw that line before official practices begin.
Green also made it clear that the summer buzz doesn’t change what comes next for a rookie.
“Enjoy all your media,” Green added.
Golden State is trying to put together a championship roster around Stephen Curry, with the front office focused heavily on free agency this summer while also getting the young players ready for the physical demands ahead. Lendeborg showed promise in Summer League, but Green’s comments were a reminder that the real test starts when training camp opens.
