Chris Mullin isn’t waiting around to see whether Yaxel Lendeborg is for real. After nine games, the Hall of Famer already sounds convinced the Warriors’ rookie is on a star track.
Lendeborg, the No. 11 overall pick, has opened the 2026-27 season with numbers that jump off the page: 21 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. He’s also adding 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks while shooting 49.2% from the field and 39.6% from 3-point range.
That kind of start caught Mullin’s attention in a recent interview with HoopsHype, where he made his view on the rookie crystal clear: "Yaxel, probably after eight or nine games, has played better than anybody. He'd probably get the Rookie of the Year award right now. And quite frankly, if the Warriors keep winning and he plays like this, he'll be in the All-Star game!"
Mullin didn’t stop there. He added, "If the Warriors win enough games, he'll be in All-Star consideration for sure. And I think he's going to be a perennial All-Star and just an All-NBA type performer moving forward consistently,"
It’s strong praise, but it comes from someone who knows what elite production looks like in Golden State. Mullin spent 13 seasons with the Warriors, made five All-Star teams and earned four All-NBA selections while averaging 20.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.6 blocks.
Stephen Curry has been brilliant to start the season as well, but Warriors fans are used to that kind of dominance. What stands out here is the rookie next to him, and Lendeborg has wasted no time making himself part of the conversation.

Stephen Curry Just Reached Another Shooting Mark Few Ever Touch
Stephen Curry added another line to a resume already packed with them at Chase Center, knocking down a three-pointer in his 100th straight game with the Warriors. It came during a first half in which Golden State had help beyond its usual centerpiece, with rookie Yaxel Lendeborg and Brandin Podziemski contributing as the Warriors carried a lead into the stretch before halftime.
Orlando, though, did not let the moment turn into a runaway. Franz Wagner and Jamal Cain helped keep the Magic within striking distance and made the game feel competitive well into the second quarter, a reminder that even on a night when Curry reaches a rare shooting milestone, Golden State still has to finish the job against a team willing to hang around. Klay Thompson Just Reopened A Warriors Debate Fans Can't Ignore
Klay Thompsons first game against the Warriors as a member of the Heat had the kind of emotional backdrop that always seems to follow him around the Bay Area. He scored 11 points and added three assists in Miamis loss, but the bigger takeaway came after the final buzzer, when Thompson made it clear he still carries thoughts of a possible reunion with Golden State and appreciates the support he continues to get from fans in the region.
For Warriors fans, that is the part that keeps the conversation alive. Thompson is under contract with Miami now, but he also has a player option for next season, which leaves the door open just enough to keep the speculation going. Even with the move already made, his connection to Golden State has not gone away, and this latest visit only reminded everyone how hard it is to fully close the book on a player who helped define an era. Steph Curry Fans Are Split Over Ayeshas On Camera Moment
Ayesha Currys latest turn in the spotlight has pulled the Warriors family into an unexpected pop-culture conversation. She stars in Rokus holiday movie Second Chance Holiday, and one scene in particular, featuring a kiss with co-star Matthew Daddario, quickly became a talking point on social media as viewers weighed in on how it fit with her public life as Steph Currys wife.
The reaction even drew criticism from former NFL player LeSean McCoy, who questioned whether the moment was appropriate. Ayesha Curry later clarified that the kiss was not real, while Steph Curry has publicly backed her acting work, a reminder that the debate says as much about internet culture as it does about the movie itself.
