Nike just gave Kirby Smart a fresh weapon in one of the biggest debates around Georgia football.

For years, the Bulldogs’ NIL approach has drawn skepticism, and that chatter has only grown louder with Georgia’s 2027 recruiting class sitting outside the top 10 - a spot that usually doesn’t fit the Kirby Smart standard. Smart has kept saying the same thing throughout it all: he won’t buy recruits. The brand announced NIL partnerships with six current Georgia standouts and five-star commit Jaxon Dollar. The six Bulldogs included wide receiver Talyn Taylor, tight ends Elyiss Williams and Kaiden Prothro, linebacker Chris Cole and defensive backs KJ Bolden and Ellis Robinson. Nike did not disclose the value of the deals.

For Georgia, the size of the check matters less than the message. Nike attaching itself to six Bulldogs is a clear sign that the company sees real marketability in players who have already made their mark in Athens. That gives Smart something concrete to point to when he talks to recruits: not just a promise, but proof.

Now he has six current players to use as examples of what can happen when talent lands at Georgia and performs.

Dollar’s inclusion adds another layer to the story. The five-star tight end commit was one of just 11 current high school players included in the Nike announcement, and 247Sports said he was part of the deal because of his "standout performance at the Opening Finals."

That means the Georgia brand is already paying off for players before they even arrive on campus. With the “G” next to a name, current Bulldogs and future Bulldogs alike can become more marketable, and in this era that carries real weight.
