Kirby Smart Breaks Silence On Disturbing Bama Video

Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart emphasizes the importance of locker room privacy after motivational speeches were leaked, underscoring his focus on fostering team communication and maintaining their competitive edge.

Georgia’s 20-17 win over Alabama gave Kirby Smart a milestone victory in Tuscaloosa. It also gave him something he clearly didn’t want: another round of leaked locker room footage.

Smart said Monday that videos of his pregame and postgame speeches from inside Georgia’s locker room had surfaced, and he made it plain he’s not happy about it. The Bulldogs coach has long built his program around “FPE” - Fire, Passion, and Energy - but he also wants those messages to stay where they belong.

"It's happened before. It's not something I want," Smart said.

"I feel like that's a spot you should be able to feel safe to talk to your team and communicate with your team. It's happened before to us.

We've gotta do a better job managing it, honestly."

The leaked clips came from Saturday’s win over Alabama and showed two very different versions of Smart’s locker room presence. Before the game, he pushed Georgia to match Alabama’s physical style and challenge the Crimson Tide on that front, turning what had been built up as a strength in the matchup into a point of attack for his team.

After the game, the tone shifted to celebration, but the intensity never really left. Smart praised the way Georgia finished the job and pointed to a late sequence involving Craig Dandridge and Alabama’s Dijon Lee Jr., using that moment to highlight Dandridge’s composure after Lee struck him. He also explained why Georgia wanted to keep pushing instead of getting cautious and letting the result hang in the balance.

The speeches offered the kind of raw look at Smart’s voice inside the locker room that usually never leaves the room. This time, they did - and Smart didn’t offer details on where the recordings came from or what Georgia might do to keep it from happening again.

For Dwight Phillips Jr., though, the pregame message sounded exactly like the coach Georgia players know. Asked Monday what it meant to hear Smart have his back, the running back said the locker-room tone is nothing new.

"I mean, for the most part, he's always like that in the locker room," Phillips said. "It just, it fires you up, just gets you ready to play."

That’s the divide in a nutshell: what looks explosive from the outside is just part of the weekly rhythm inside Georgia’s program. Smart wants those conversations protected, and Monday made clear why. He wants a private space to drive his team, not a public replay of it after the fact.

"We've gotta do a better job managing it," Smart said.

Georgia Tech Faces A Familiar Problem Entering Virginia Tech Game

Georgia Tech is heading into its Week 7 matchup with Virginia Tech carrying the kind of injury uncertainty that has started to feel familiar this fall. The Yellow Jackets report features several notable absences, including offensive linemen Ethan Mackenny and Markell Samuel, along with Malachi Hosley and starting cornerback Daiquan White, while Noah Carter is expected back. For a team trying to settle into a rhythm, the availability picture matters on both sides of the ball, especially up front.

The depth chart could also get thinner if Haynes is unable to go, leaving another position group in question as Saturday approaches. And in a longer-term development for the program, Kyle Efford has medically retired because of injuries, a reminder that the roster turnover around the season is not only about game-day status but also about careers interrupted by health issues. Georgia Techs Bowl Push Faces A Bigger Test Than Duke

Georgia Tech got the result it needed against Duke, its first Power Four win since Nov. 15, 2025, and the performance offered a glimpse of a more balanced attack. The run game was steadier, the offense found ways to finish drives and the win kept the Yellow Jackets moving in the right direction as they try to stay in the bowl conversation.

The challenge ahead looks tougher in a different way. Virginia Tech brings a more complete offensive test, with quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer steering the unit and a capable running back duo behind him, while Georgia Tech still has real issues to clean up on the other side of the ball. Third downs have been a trouble spot and the Jackets have yet to come up with a turnover this season, leaving little margin for error as the schedule tightens. [Read more 🡒]

Georgia Tech Brings New Swagger Into A Suddenly Winnable Virginia Tech Game

Georgia Tech is carrying a little more confidence into its ACC matchup with Virginia Tech after the upset of Duke, and the timing feels important for a program trying to turn a good win into something more lasting. The Jackets also signaled a fresh look for the road trip, unveiling a uniform combination that fits the moment and adds to the sense that this is a team trying to show up with some edge.

Brent Key did not dismiss what Virginia Tech can still do, even with the Hokies coming off recent losses. In talking to the media, he pointed to the strength of Virginia Techs coaching staff and singled out the Hokies' tight ends and quarterback as major concerns, which is a reminder that Georgia Tech cannot treat this as a simple follow-up to its Duke breakthrough. The setup is there for the Jackets to make another statement, but the test is whether that new swagger holds up once the game starts. [Read more 🡒]
