Jordan Allen Is Giving Georgia Tech Fans A Reason To Believe Again

Deck: As Georgia Tech's top receiver, Jordan Allen shares insights on team dynamics, preparation, and the influences driving his standout performances ahead of the Boston College matchup.

Georgia Tech wide receiver Jordan Allen is stepping into the spotlight at exactly the right time for the Yellow Jackets. After a season in which his snap count kept climbing even in a crowded receiver room, he’s now the clear No. 1 target and has put together back-to-back 10-catch games. That kind of production has made him the go-to option, and on Wednesday he talked through where the offense stands and what still needs tightening up.

Allen said the group feels like it’s moving in the right direction, while still leaving room for cleaner execution.

“I feel like we're definitely in good shape right now. You know, just kind of getting together as a whole and kind of clicking more.

I feel like we could start better, finish drives better, you know, just little things. But I feel like we have shown great things on tape the past couple of weeks,” said Allen.

He pointed to the work done away from game day as a big reason the offense is settling in. For him, that chemistry has been built through the extra time spent together on routes and timing.

“Yeah, I feel like that has definitely played a huge role in our success for the team. You know, just those after practices just getting routes or getting on the same page. Just a timing thing, you know, so just the small things that we did previously in the season and offseason you know is definitely showing up now,” said Allen.

With Boston College next on the schedule, Allen was asked about the challenge in front of him, and he didn’t overstate it. He singled out the Eagles’ secondary as a unit that competes hard and makes plays on the back end.

“Their secondary is good. I mean they play with high effort, you know, they fly around to the ball.

They make plays on the back end, so we just have to make sure that we do our job, getting the game plan. The coaches have a great game plan for this week, so we just gotta make sure that we're all on it and just ready to execute,” said Allen.

Allen also made it clear he knows the lane he’s trying to follow. When asked about Georgia Tech receiver standards, he named two former Yellow Jackets who still loom large: Calvin Johnson and Demarius Thomas.

“For sure. Definitely Megatron, Calvin Johnson.

He's a legend here, legend in the league. Everybody knows him.

He's done great things. That's definitely somebody that I look up to and Demarius Thomas as well, just being what he's done here and what he's done in the league.

I mean, those are definitely two guys that stand out, obviously coming from Georgia Tech. So those are definitely two guys that I have my eyes on,” said Allen.

Georgia Tech Gets Early Shot With Rising 2029 Defensive Back

Marquise Ealey is still early in the recruiting process, but Georgia Tech is getting one of the first real chances to make an impression. The sophomore defensive back at SW DeKalb High School, already viewed as a top prospect in the 2029 class, is set to spend time on campus as the Yellow Jackets prepare to face Boston College, giving him a closer look at the program and the people behind it.

Ealey has also started to build a relationship with Georgia Techs coaching staff, which matters this early for a player whose profile is only going to keep rising. The Yellow Jackets have a track record of recruiting and playing young cornerbacks before they become household names, and that kind of path could end up being part of the appeal as Ealey continues to sort through his options. Georgia Techs Bowl Path Suddenly Looks Far More Uncomfortable

Two losses in a row have made Georgia Techs path to a bowl game look a lot less forgiving than it did a couple of weeks ago. The Yellow Jackets sit at 2-4 and now have to start stacking wins against a schedule that does not leave much room for error, with Boston College, Louisville, Clemson, Wake Forest and Georgia still ahead.

ESPNs Football Power Index reflects that tightrope, with the next few games carrying very different levels of hope and pressure depending on opponent and recent form. Boston College stands out as the immediate swing game, while the late-season stretch only gets tougher from there, leaving Georgia Tech in a spot where every weekend starts to feel like a referendum on whether the bowl chase can still survive. Amontrae Bradford Sounds Ready For A Bigger Georgia Tech Test

Amontrae Bradford has found himself in a bigger spot for Georgia Tech, and the redshirt freshman is sounding comfortable with the extra responsibility. With the edge rusher group thinned out, Bradford has been pushed into a larger role and has leaned into it, talking about staying upbeat, trusting the coaching staff and taking pride in the chance to help the defense keep moving in the right direction.

Bradford also said he sees the Yellow Jackets making progress defensively, and hes ready for what comes next on the schedule. With more on his plate, hes also embracing the chance to help younger teammates settle in, a sign that Georgia Tech is asking more of him now than just pass rush work. [Read more 🡒]
