Georgia Tech Stuns Rival By Flipping Top Georgia Commit

Georgia Tech shakes up the recruiting landscape with a timely flip from their in-state rivals, signaling momentum heading into the next recruiting cycle.

Georgia Tech is making noise early in the national signing day period-and not just with volume, but with impact. The Yellow Jackets have landed two new commitments just days into this critical stretch, and one of them is a notable flip from a major in-state rival.

Defensive backs coach Cory Peoples continues to be a difference-maker on the recruiting trail. For the second straight year, he’s pulled off a high-profile flip, this time securing a commitment from a former Georgia Bulldogs pledge.

The player in question? A versatile, instinctive defensive back who had been committed to the Bulldogs since April.

This marks the second year in a row Georgia Tech has flipped a recruit from Georgia. Last cycle, it was defensive lineman Christian Garrett.

The year before, Peoples helped sway four-star defensive back Tae Harris from Clemson. Now, it’s another win for the Jackets in the trenches of recruiting warfare.

According to 247Sports, the newest addition is rated as a three-star prospect, ranked as the No. 44 safety in the country, No. 58 overall player in Georgia, and No. 545 nationally. But rankings only tell part of the story-this is a player who brings real production and positional flexibility to the table.

On the field this season, he was a two-way standout. Offensively, he logged 40 carries for 443 yards and seven touchdowns, along with 10 receptions for 215 yards and a score.

But it’s his defensive work that has Georgia Tech excited. He racked up 33 tackles, three fumble recoveries, two pass breakups, and an interception.

That’s the kind of stat line that jumps off the page-and it’s backed up by the tape.

What makes him special is his versatility. He’s not just a safety or a corner-he’s a hybrid defensive back who can fill multiple roles.

Need someone in the slot? He’s got it.

Want a safety who can play deep or in the box? He can do both.

He’s a physical defender with natural instincts and the ability to match up with the opponent’s top weapon. That kind of chess piece gives defensive coordinators serious flexibility, and Georgia Tech just added one to the board.

This commitment is part of a broader push by the Yellow Jackets to build a defense that can compete at the highest level. And they’re not done yet.

Georgia Tech still has at least three more targets in the 2026 cycle that they’re actively pursuing. One of the biggest names still in play is Jordan Carter, a high-priority target who’s down to Georgia Tech and Tennessee. That battle is heating up as decision day approaches.

Another name to watch is Jordan Woods, who’s weighing his options between NC State and Georgia Tech. Meanwhile, three-star prospect Christian Speakman out of Morrow is expected to make his call in the coming days, with the Jackets in a strong position.

And then there’s Tico Crittendon, another key name on Georgia Tech’s radar. The Jackets are in a head-to-head race with Mississippi State to land the talented prospect.

Bottom line: Georgia Tech is swinging big-and connecting. With momentum building and several key targets still in play, the Yellow Jackets are putting together a recruiting class that could be a foundational step forward for the program. Keep an eye on Atlanta-the Jackets are making moves.
