Georgia Tech's Next ACC Test Just Got A Lot More Real

Boston College is set to clash with Georgia Tech in a pivotal Week 8 matchup, as both teams seek to break from their middling performances this season.

Boston College’s Week 8 trip to Georgia Tech now has a start time, with the ACC announcing Monday morning that the Eagles and Yellow Jackets will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET.

That matchup comes after Boston College hosts Pitt this Saturday in a noon game, then heads back on the road for Oct. 24 at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. The meeting will air on ACC Network, carried by ESPN.

The last time BC played in Atlanta was Oct. 21, 2023, during Jeff Hafley’s final season on the Heights. The Eagles came away with a 38-23 win and stretched their streak to four straight after opening that year 1-3.

Georgia Tech nearly stole one in Chestnut Hill last season. On Nov. 15, the Yellow Jackets arrived with an 8-1 record and escaped with a 36-34 win after trailing 28-17 entering the fourth quarter. Former BC wide receiver Lewis Bond, now with the Houston Texans, caught eight passes for 106 yards in that game and set Boston College program records for career receptions and single-season receptions, passing Zay Flowers of the Baltimore Ravens in both categories.

Both teams are 2-3 overall, though Georgia Tech has the better league mark at 1-1 compared with BC’s 0-2. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 28-25 home loss to No.

23 Duke and will travel to Virginia Tech for a 3:30 p.m. ET game this week.

Boston College, meanwhile, is coming out of a bye after a 25-16 road loss to No. 21 SMU in its second straight defeat.

Georgia Tech May Finally Be Turning A Corner At The Right Time

Georgia Techs win over Duke offered another sign that the Yellow Jackets may be settling in at the right moment. The victory pushed their streak against the Blue Devils to six straight, and it came with a cleaner, more complete showing on both sides of the ball than Tech has managed at other points this season. The offense was steadier, the defense held up well enough to support it, and the overall performance gave the coaching staff something to build on heading into the next stretch.

There were encouraging signs throughout the lineup, from improved efficiency through the air to a ground game that found the end zone repeatedly. Still, the bigger question is whether this was a one-game lift or the start of something more sustainable, especially with Virginia Tech up next. The Jackets have reasons to feel better about where they are now, but there are still enough gaps to keep the spotlight on how they follow it up. [Read more 🡒]

Georgia Tech Just Kept Its ACC Path Alive In A Crowded Race

Georgia Techs win over Duke did more than add another ACC victory to the ledger. It kept the Yellow Jackets squarely in the mix in a conference race that suddenly has no shortage of one-loss teams chasing unbeaten Miami, and it gave the program a little more room to dream as the schedule tightens.

The path ahead, though, is anything but simple. Wake Forest, Clemson and Pittsburgh all loom as games that could reshape Techs place in the league and its postseason outlook, and first comes a trip to Virginia Tech, where the Hokies have dropped two straight but still lean on quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer and tight end Luke Reynolds to drive the offense. Georgia Tech Just Got A Homecoming Setup Fans Will Notice

Georgia Techs recent home win over Duke gave Brent Keys team a little breathing room and a reminder of what steady play can look like when the Yellow Jackets are connected on both sides of the ball. The schedule now sends them to Blacksburg for Virginia Tech, but the next date that will matter to plenty of fans back in Atlanta is the return to Bobby Dodd Stadium, where homecoming against Boston College is taking shape as one of the more noticeable spots on the fall calendar.

The matchup with the Eagles has now been placed in the afternoon window, with the league and television slot giving it a familiar feel for a fan base that will be watching closely. Keys message after the Duke win centered on the same themes Georgia Tech has leaned on all season - consistency, effort and doing the work together - and the homecoming setting should add another layer of attention when the Yellow Jackets come back home.
