Georgia Tech’s schedule won’t slow down, but at least the next stop is now locked in.
The Yellow Jackets’ Week Eight matchup against Boston College, which also serves as homecoming, will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday. The game will air on the ACC Network, and it will be the third straight 3:30 kickoff for Georgia Tech.
That announcement comes as Georgia Tech heads into this week’s trip to Blacksburg, VA, to take on Virginia Tech. It’s not exactly a marquee ACC showdown, but both teams need something out of it. The Yellow Jackets are trying to keep the momentum from their home win over Duke, while the Hokies are looking to stop a skid after back-to-back losses.
Georgia Tech’s win over Duke raised the obvious question: was it the start of something real, or just another unpredictable ACC Saturday? The answer, at least for now, sits somewhere in the middle. The Yellow Jackets showed improvement and played a cleaner game, but one win doesn’t suddenly change the entire picture.
Brent Key made that clear after the game, stressing that the work still has to happen every day.
"Yeah, look, we've got to come to work every day. But when you win, it's a lot easier to come back in and have the energy and enthusiasm, right?
We've had a hard two weeks. We've had a hard two weeks.
Everybody's programmed from the top to almost at the bottom, but everyone else. From, you know, on the hill, the presidents, to the administration, the AD.
I mean, it's everybody. We all feel this, right?
And we needed that today. It's a lot easier to come into work and do the things you have to do and to do your job. when you have that so i'll just clean up mistakes when you have that.
Yeah, we needed it. And that was one of the things I talked to them about was, this was last Tuesday, two Tuesdays ago, I guess.
We came back from the first Tuesday of the bye week. I said, look, man, guys, you guys all want to win.
I know it. But we've got to stop sitting around and doing the things that lose games.
We've got to learn how to stop losing the game before we can ever win. And now it kind of propels you.
And now there's belief, there's confidence. But, again, I go back to all those different things.
What I go back to is we played together as a team. We played together as a team, and that goes a long way."
For Georgia Tech, the next two weeks are about turning that into something more. First comes Virginia Tech, then Boston College at 3:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.

Georgia Tech's Next ACC Test Just Got A Lot More Real
Georgia Techs next chance to steady things in the ACC now has a time slot attached to it, with the league setting Boston Colleges visit for a midafternoon kickoff at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. The matchup lands on October 24 and gives the Yellow Jackets another conference game with some early-season weight, especially with both teams trying to climb back toward .500.
The details also sharpen the picture of where each program stands entering the stretch run. Georgia Tech has the slight edge in league play, while Boston College is still looking for its first ACC win, and the stage will be set on the ACC Network in a window that should give the game a little more attention than a typical late-October noon start. Georgia Tech May Finally Be Turning A Corner At The Right Time
Georgia Techs win over Duke offered another sign that the Yellow Jackets may be settling in at the right moment. The victory pushed their streak against the Blue Devils to six straight, and it came with a cleaner, more complete showing on both sides of the ball than Tech has managed at other points this season. The offense was steadier, the defense held up well enough to support it, and the overall performance gave the coaching staff something to build on heading into the next stretch.
There were encouraging signs throughout the lineup, from improved efficiency through the air to a ground game that found the end zone repeatedly. Still, the bigger question is whether this was a one-game lift or the start of something more sustainable, especially with Virginia Tech up next. The Jackets have reasons to feel better about where they are now, but there are still enough gaps to keep the spotlight on how they follow it up. [Read more 🡒]
Georgia Tech Just Kept Its ACC Path Alive In A Crowded Race
Georgia Techs win over Duke did more than add another ACC victory to the ledger. It kept the Yellow Jackets squarely in the mix in a conference race that suddenly has no shortage of one-loss teams chasing unbeaten Miami, and it gave the program a little more room to dream as the schedule tightens.
The path ahead, though, is anything but simple. Wake Forest, Clemson and Pittsburgh all loom as games that could reshape Techs place in the league and its postseason outlook, and first comes a trip to Virginia Tech, where the Hokies have dropped two straight but still lean on quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer and tight end Luke Reynolds to drive the offense.
