Georgia Tech Heads Into Clemson With One More Chance To Respond

Georgia Tech prepares for a critical showdown against Clemson as they seek improvement in defense and offensive execution amid a challenging season.

Georgia Tech’s next trip to the schedule comes with a set kickoff window and a familiar opponent on deck. The Yellow Jackets will meet Clemson in Week 11 at 12:30 p.m. ET, with the game airing on the CW Network.

That matchup arrives after another rough outing for Georgia Tech, which dropped its third straight game in a 34-11 road loss to Pittsburgh. The same problems kept showing up for the Yellow Jackets: trouble slowing the run, an offense that couldn’t do much for most of the day, and a defense that, while it forced three turnovers, still couldn’t get enough support from the other side of the ball. Georgia Tech didn’t really find any rhythm until the fourth quarter.

Clemson, meanwhile, has been uneven in its own right. The Tigers are 2-2 over their last four games, with wins over Charleston Southern and Florida State and losses to Virginia Tech and Miami.

Their defense has held up well, but the true freshman quarterback is still working through the early part of his adjustment. He has a ways to go, but is starting to find his footing.

Before facing Georgia Tech, Clemson will take on Syracuse, and the Orange are coming in after back-to-back big wins over North Carolina and SMU.

The Yellow Jackets will also get a chance to revisit a rivalry they’ve controlled over time. Georgia Tech leads the all-time series 51-36-2, and Clemson ranks as the fourth most played opponent in program history. Last season, Georgia Tech ended a three-game skid against the Tigers with a dramatic win sealed by Aidan Birr’s walk-off 55-yard field goal.

For Georgia Tech, though, the bigger issue remains the same from week to week. The problems keep shifting instead of disappearing.

One area gets patched up, and another opens right back up. To turn that around, the Yellow Jackets need to start by tightening up against the run and getting better aligned on defense.

After that, the offense has to do its part and turn those takeaways and short fields into points. The final stretch won’t be easy, with four games left against teams with winning records, but Georgia Tech still has to find a way to clean things up and give itself a shot.

"You know, there's a correction has to be made based on something and uh it's made and it I don't want to say right now how it would be fixed. I got a lot of things running through my head right now. Appreciate the question and I know people want to know."

Georgia Techs Late Season Slide Is Raising Pressure Around Brent Key

Georgia Techs late-season stumble has turned a promising year into an anxious finish, with the loss to Pittsburgh adding another layer of pressure around Brent Keys program. The Yellow Jackets have now dropped three straight, and what once looked like a path toward a comfortable bowl berth has become a scramble to steady things before the schedule runs out.

Around the ACC, the weekend only sharpened the stakes. Pittsburgh clinched bowl eligibility with its win over Georgia Tech, while Syracuse kept its own postseason hopes alive by beating SMU and Clemson moved closer to qualifying with a win over Florida State. For the Yellow Jackets, the bigger concern is no longer what the conference race looks like around them, but whether they can avoid a finish that would leave them on the outside looking in. Georgia Tech Heads Into Louisville With One Problem Still Looming

Georgia Tech heads into Louisville trying to stop a slide that has already reached three games, and the broader picture is getting harder to ignore. The Yellow Jackets are trending toward what would be Brent Keys worst season as head coach, with the problems showing up on both sides of the ball through missed assignments on offense and shaky tackling on defense.

The matchup only adds to the pressure, with ESPN analyst Bill Connellys SP+ model heavily favoring Louisville and projecting a lopsided road result for the Jackets. Even as the losses pile up, the lingering issue is still the same one Georgia Tech has been chasing for weeks, the kind of defensive breakdowns that leave too many plays unfinished and too many drives alive. Georgia Tech Faces A Defining Choice As Louisville Comes To Atlanta

Georgia Tech heads into Saturday nights home date with Louisville carrying more than the usual ACC pressure. The Yellow Jackets have been searching for answers on both sides of the ball this season, and the offensive frustration has only sharpened the focus on what comes next as they try to steady things in Atlanta. The matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the ACC Network, but the bigger conversation around the program has been about how to get the offense moving again.

Alberto Mendozas recent struggles have put the quarterback situation under a brighter spotlight, and the staff is also looking at whether it should lean more heavily on younger players as it tries to balance the present with the future. Trae Stevenson Jr., Tae Harris and Josh Petty are among the names in that conversation, a sign that this stretch may be about more than just one game. For a team still trying to find traction, the decisions made this week could shape more than the Louisville result. [Read more 🡒]
