Georgia football’s meeting with Florida is getting ESPN’s top broadcast booth this weekend.
Disney announced Monday that Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will handle the call for the Bulldogs’ rivalry matchup with the Gators. It’s a familiar assignment for the pair, who first worked this game in 2024, the opening year of Disney’s new SEC rights deal.
This won’t be their first time seeing Georgia in a huge spot, either. Fowler and Herbstreit were on the call for Georgia’s win over No.
1 Texas, the victory over Tennessee in Athens and the SEC Championship Game against Texas in Atlanta last season. They also called all three of Georgia’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearances, along with the Bulldogs’ overtime win over No.
2 Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl to close the 2017 season.
“Sony Michel will send the Dawgs home for the championship game,” Fowler exclaimed when Georgia RB Sony Michel ran in for the game-winning touchdown against the Sooners.
They were also on the microphone three weeks ago when Georgia beat Alabama for the first time in three tries during Kirby Smart’s run at UGA.
The move makes sense with kickoff set for 3:30. Fowler and Herbstreit usually handle ABC’s night game, but Miami-North Carolina has the primetime slot this week, so Disney is sending its top crew to Atlanta for Georgia-Florida. The game was announced before the season as a 3:30 kickoff.
The rivalry itself has lived in that window for decades. Georgia-Florida has been one of the most-watched games in college football this century, and only once since 1996 - Florida’s 2002 upset of Georgia - has it been played outside that time slot.
The location is different this year, too. The game has long been staged in Jacksonville, but with the stadium there undergoing renovations for the Jaguars, the rivalry is moving for two seasons.
Georgia and Florida will be back at their usual home along the Saint Johns River in 2028. For now, the game is in Atlanta this year and will shift to Tampa next year.
Disney also said Monday that this year’s game will be “available as an immersive viewing experience on Meta Quest (via the TV App), with live 180-degree coverage and front-row views of the action.” It will also be shown in 4K.
Monday’s announcement also put another Georgia game in the spotlight: the Bulldogs’ trip to Ole Miss will kick off in primetime on ABC, giving Georgia another showcase on the network’s biggest stage.

Georgia Keeps Sending A Clear Message About Its Quarterback Future
Georgias quarterback room for the future keeps taking shape, and the latest addition is another sign of how aggressively the Bulldogs are building ahead. Bo Bryan, a three-star prospect from Battle Ground Academy in Tennessee, has committed to Georgia, adding yet another arm to a 2027 class that already had one notable signal-caller on board. Bryan has drawn attention this fall for the kind of accuracy and leadership that programs covet, and his pledge only adds to the early buzz around the Bulldogs long-term plans at the position.
For Georgia, the bigger picture is hard to miss. The staff continues to recruit quarterbacks with the expectation that the competition and talent level at the spot will stay high, and Bryans commitment fits the mold of a program that rarely sits still when it comes to future depth. With other quarterback prospects already committed or being pursued, the Bulldogs are clearly sending a message about how seriously theyre treating the next wave at the games most important position. Georgia Tech Heads To Pitt With Brent Key Facing New Pressure
The conversation around Georgia Techs season has shifted from weekly fixes to bigger-picture questions after a rough defensive showing left the Yellow Jackets searching for answers. Brent Key acknowledged the inconsistency and accepted responsibility for the coaching shortcomings, even as the team continues to work through injuries to key players that have complicated the rotation and left the roster thinner than usual.
Key did not get into any talk of in-season coaching changes, and the focus now turns to whether Georgia Tech can steady itself before the next stretch of games. The return of injured contributors could help, but the pressure is only building for a program that has not looked as connected or as dependable as it needs to be. [Read more 🡒]
Georgia Fans Have A New ACC Reason To Worry About Glenn Schumann
NC States coaching search has already started drawing attention across the ACC, and it reaches into Athens as well. After the Wolfpack moved on from Dave Doeren, ESPN reported that Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann is among the names being considered, a group that also includes Scott Satterfield, Charles Huff, Jake Dickert and Philip Rivers.
For Georgia fans, Schumanns profile is easy to understand. He has built his reputation around time spent with successful programs under Kirby Smart and Nick Saban, which has made him one of the more respected defensive minds in the sport. The question now is whether that background keeps him in the mix for a move that would represent a major next step in his career. [Read more 🡒]
