Amontrae Bradford Sounds Ready For A Bigger Georgia Tech Test

As Georgia Tech preps for Saturday's game, veteran EDGE Amontrae Bradford opens up about stepping into a pivotal role amidst team injuries and his outlook on facing a strong opponent.

Amontrae Bradford hasn’t spent this season complaining about a reduced role. He kept working, kept his head down, and now the Georgia Tech EDGE is getting more chances because injuries have thinned the edge rusher group and pushed him into a bigger spot.

Bradford said Thursday that he’s embracing the opportunity and trying to help steady the room while the defense continues building off its second-half surge on Saturday.

“I feel like I'm a very positive guy. I always pick up each other's head when they're down and I never like let any negative negativeness slide.

Stay positive and just tell them we got this, man. Like, trust in the coach and believe in the coach, and the linebacker got the quarterback, got it.

Offense got it. Just believe in offense.

We're going to they're going to go score. We're going to get it back.

We're going to get the ball back to them. They're going to go score again.

We're going to win,” said Bradford.

He also pointed to the kind of growth the pass rush can still make as the season goes on. Bradford believes the production is coming if Georgia Tech keeps dialing up pressure.

“I definitely feel like those turnovers are coming, and I feel like with us just keep doing what we're doing and keep putting more pressure on the quarterback each week and getting better and better. I feel like those pressures and sacks and all that are definitely going to come,” said Bradford.

Boston College presents another test, and Bradford described the matchup as a physical one up front. He highlighted the size and strength of the Eagles’ offensive line and said Georgia Tech’s scheme should make it a competitive battle.

“I feel like they're a good offensive line, and I feel like with the scheme we're going to do and how they run, I feel like it's going to be a good matchup. They're a pretty good offensive line.

They're pretty physical and bigger. They're bigger offensive tackles.

Yeah, I feel like it's pretty good. They're pretty good offensive line,” said Bradford.

For Bradford, the increased workload hasn’t caught him off guard. He said the bigger role felt like something that was coming, and he was prepared for it. He also said he’s been trying to help the younger players adjust as responsibilities shift around them.

“I feel like I was ready for it. I feel like you know it's just more reps, more everything.

So, I feel like that role was expected to come, and I was ready for it. I just had to push the freshmen and tell them, "All right, now that their role is gone and mine has stepped up, you know, fill the next role so they can step up also,” said Bradford.

Georgia Tech Gets Early Shot With Rising 2029 Defensive Back

Marquise Ealey is still early in the recruiting process, but Georgia Tech is getting one of the first real chances to make an impression. The sophomore defensive back at SW DeKalb High School, already viewed as a top prospect in the 2029 class, is set to spend time on campus as the Yellow Jackets prepare to face Boston College, giving him a closer look at the program and the people behind it.

Ealey has also started to build a relationship with Georgia Techs coaching staff, which matters this early for a player whose profile is only going to keep rising. The Yellow Jackets have a track record of recruiting and playing young cornerbacks before they become household names, and that kind of path could end up being part of the appeal as Ealey continues to sort through his options. Georgia Techs Bowl Path Suddenly Looks Far More Uncomfortable

Two losses in a row have made Georgia Techs path to a bowl game look a lot less forgiving than it did a couple of weeks ago. The Yellow Jackets sit at 2-4 and now have to start stacking wins against a schedule that does not leave much room for error, with Boston College, Louisville, Clemson, Wake Forest and Georgia still ahead.

ESPNs Football Power Index reflects that tightrope, with the next few games carrying very different levels of hope and pressure depending on opponent and recent form. Boston College stands out as the immediate swing game, while the late-season stretch only gets tougher from there, leaving Georgia Tech in a spot where every weekend starts to feel like a referendum on whether the bowl chase can still survive. Jordan Allen Is Giving Georgia Tech Fans A Reason To Believe Again

Jordan Allen has quickly become the kind of receiver Georgia Tech has been searching for, stepping into the role of primary target and backing it up with back-to-back 10-catch outings. In a recent media session, Allen talked about his own growth and the broader progress around the program, a sign that the Yellow Jackets are finding some rhythm as the season moves along.

Allen also made clear he knows the standard at receiver in Atlanta, pointing to former Georgia Tech stars Calvin Johnson and Demarius Thomas as examples of the level of play the position can reach. For a fan base that has been looking for reasons to feel better about the offense, Allens emergence has created some real intrigue, especially with another test ahead against a defense that plays with plenty of aggression and energy.
