Georgia had little trouble putting away Western Kentucky on Saturday, rolling to a 70-20 win at home. But Kirby Smart still found plenty to nitpick when the game was over.
The Bulldogs built a massive cushion before halftime, then let the second half turn into something less clean. Smart made that plain when he was asked about the team’s all-white look and whether Georgia fans might see it again.

Georgia was in full control early, racing to a 49-6 lead by the break. The numbers told the same story: the Bulldogs piled up a 343-63 edge in total yardage in the first half alone.
The final two quarters were a different story. Georgia still outscored the Hilltoppers 21-14 after halftime, but Western Kentucky actually finished the second half with a 162-150 advantage in yardage. WKU also handled third down better over those last two quarters, converting 5 of 10 tries while Georgia went 2 of 6.
Even with that uneven finish, the day was a showcase for Georgia’s offense. Gunner Stockton threw only 16 passes and still totaled 234 yards with 5 touchdown passes, spreading those scores to 5 different receivers. The Bulldogs also found the end zone on the ground three times, highlighted by backup quarterback Ryan Puglisi’s 70-yard touchdown run, a play where he went untouched.
Georgia’s defense did its part too. The Bulldogs limited Western Kentucky to 18 completions on 37 attempts for just 115 passing yards, while also forcing 2 interceptions and allowing 1 touchdown through the air. On the ground, WKU managed 110 yards on 37 carries.
The win moved No. 2 Georgia to 2-0 heading into SEC play. Next up is a trip to Arkansas for the Bulldogs’ first conference game of the 2026 season.
