Georgia’s opening-night demolition of Tennessee State has already pushed the betting market into a familiar place: massive expectations.
After rolling to a 63-3 win at home, the Bulldogs were rewarded with another huge number from FanDuel Sportsbook, which has Georgia favored by 40.5 points over Western Kentucky. That comes on the heels of Georgia being a 47.5-point favorite last week, a line it covered comfortably.
There’s a reason the oddsmakers aren’t backing off. Georgia did exactly what it was supposed to do in Week 1, and then some.
The Bulldogs never let Tennessee State breathe, jumping out fast with starters scoring on the first five possessions before the backups kept the pressure on the rest of the way. It was the first time Georgia has covered a spread of at least 38.5 points with Kirby Smart as head coach.

SEC play begins after this game, and Gunner Stockton and the starters may need more than a quick tune-up to get their conditioning where it needs to be. Even so, the broader objective remains the same: rest the veterans, develop the depth, and let the backups keep proving themselves if the game gets out of hand early again.
