Dante Moore’s season is over, but the bigger question is just getting started.
On Monday, Dan Lanning made it official that Oregon’s quarterback won’t be back this year after the severe concussion he suffered against USC. What began with sky-high expectations - a shot at the National Championship, maybe even a trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony - has now turned into another major fork in Moore’s career.
“I’m not anticipating [Dante Moore] being back this season, no.” Oregon head coach Dan Lanning
Moore’s latest setback came in a season he chose to bet on himself. He passed on what could have been a Top 5 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and returned to Oregon in hopes of sharpening his game and boosting his stock. That gamble has now been interrupted by an injury that ended his year in painful fashion after a hit that forced him to be stretchered to an ambulance.
The injury doesn’t automatically close the door on his Oregon future, though. It only makes the next decision more complicated.
Moore had already taken a calculated risk by coming back to school, and the sample he leaves behind is small enough to leave room for debate. He played in only 3 games and a quarter of the USC game, and he didn’t go through the full Portland State game either. In all, he finished 69-99 (69.7%) for 926 yards and 9 touchdowns without an interception while taking 6 sacks.
That limited film matters. So does the health piece.
NFL evaluators are going to want to know how he recovers from an injury this scary, and the pause that creates could shape everything that comes next. Moore is expected to get feedback from scouts and other evaluators before deciding whether to leave for the NFL or return for a 5th season under the new eligibility rules.
If he considers coming back to Eugene, Oregon will have to make the pitch count. The Ducks can still offer major NIL money, and they’d give him another season to build the kind of tape that supports a top pick case. Even if he chooses a different college stop, Moore would still be positioned to earn as one of the country’s best.
But Oregon also has work to do on its end. The school just fired offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, and Lanning will need to make a strong hire no matter who is playing quarterback. The Ducks also have to address the offensive line, which has been an issue this season, if they want to give Moore a better case for returning.
The path to the NFL is just as easy to understand. Moore already delayed that move once, and after this injury, the appeal of a pro contract only gets stronger.
The NFL offers a longer-term decision, while another college season would likely mean just one more year before he makes it anyway. And despite the way this class was supposed to look, Moore could still end up as a Top 10 pick.

Georgia Backfield Just Got An Encouraging Chauncey Bowens Update
Georgias backfield has been waiting on Chauncey Bowens, and there is at least some encouraging movement after a two-game absence. The running back has been dealing with an injury described as being between the toes, and his return to practice this week offered a sign that the recovery is heading in the right direction. He has been working through agility drills, which is a step forward for a group that has had to keep adjusting without him.
Bowens still is not cleared for full contact or game action, so the Florida matchup appears to come too soon. Even so, the fact that he is back on the field at all gives Georgia reason to think he may factor in later this season, depending on how the injury responds over the next stretch. For a team trying to manage depth in the backfield, that kind of progress matters, even if the finish line is still a little ways off. [Read more 🡒]
Georgias Auburn Loss Exposed A Problem Kirby Smart Cant Ignore
Georgias home loss to an unranked opponent was the kind of setback that can linger well beyond one Saturday in Athens, especially when the details point to self-inflicted damage. Costly penalties and turnovers helped drag the Bulldogs into an avoidable defeat, and even with some bright individual performances, the overall picture was hard to miss for Kirby Smart and his staff.
Freshman receiver Craig Dandridge gave the offense a spark with a team-high 88 receiving yards, while linebacker Raylen Wilson turned in a busy day with 10 solo tackles and a sack. Still, the most jarring number belonged to Auburns Byrum Brown, whose 115 rushing yards topped Georgias entire ground game, a mismatch that underscored a problem the Bulldogs cant afford to shrug off as the season moves on. Georgia Fans Are Suddenly Eyeing Sanford Stadium For A Huge Reveal
Georgia fans have spent the day trying to decode a simple butterfly image posted by the athletic departments official social media accounts, and the lack of explanation only added to the buzz. In Athens, even a vague tease can turn into a full-blown guessing game, especially when it appears tied to Sanford Stadium and the kind of announcement that could bring a different crowd to campus for a big fall reveal.
One theory making the rounds points to a concert by Grammy-nominated artist Noah Kahan, with the butterfly imagery echoing what is on his tour website and a countdown timer adding to the speculation. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the clock is clearly ticking, and Georgia fans will not have to wait long to find out whether the tease is about football, music, or something else entirely.
