Gunner Stockton Made One Thing Clear After Georgia Beat Florida

Gunner Stockton reflects on Georgia's victory over Florida, touching on team dynamics, personal performance, and the electric atmosphere fueling their drive for improvement.

ATLANTA - Gunner Stockton didn’t dress up Georgia’s 27-8 win over Florida. The quarterback kept coming back to the same point after the game: the Bulldogs got the result, but there’s still plenty to clean up.

“I think anytime you get a win it's great. You know I thought we did some really good things, and definitely stuff we need to improve on.

But like I said, anytime you get a win you know, it's a great feeling.”

That was the tone throughout Stockton’s postgame comments. Georgia handled the Gators, but Stockton was quick to frame it as one step in a bigger process, not a finished product. When asked about the offense’s slow stretches, he pointed to execution and the need to keep the rhythm alive.

If you don't have a good play, just trying to respond and keep going and just trying to keep that momentum is the biggest thing. It comes down to executing and doing what we do.”

Stockton also talked about the response to the Auburn loss two weeks earlier, saying the message inside the program never changed.

“It wasn't anything different. We still went to work and still had to show up and get better, and I think that's what our team kind of embodied is, "Hey, we got to get better.

Don't matter. We got to get better next week, you know?

The win came in Atlanta, a place Stockton clearly enjoys.

“It's a good atmosphere. You always like to play in this venue and it brings the most out of you.”

He also said the crowd had the feel of a split rivalry environment.

“I thought it was, I thought it was, you know, it was, it was good. Um, it was still the 50/50 split for the most part, I think. Um, but you still have that kind of feel to it.”

Stockton was asked several times to assess his own performance, and he stayed consistent there, too. The team won, and that mattered most to him.

“I mean, we won. Definitely stuff I need to improve on and get better at but I'm just excited we won.”

On the ground, Stockton said he was trying to help however he could.

“Just trying to get a couple more yards for the offense and I wish I could've ran it a little bit better, but I definitely can get better at that.”

He also singled out the defense, which held up against what he called a strong Florida offense.

“Yeah, I thought theyplayed their butts off. That's a really good offense they played unreal.

One of the biggest moments of the day came from Chris Cole’s fumble return, and Stockton said that kind of play isn’t a surprise around the program.

“It's unreal. I definitely get to see it every day at practice and kind of the freaky stuff that happens. He’s an unreal player and a great teammate, and he works just as hard during the week for that to pay off.

Stockton also had respect for Florida quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.

“He's a really good guy, and have a lot of respect for him and the way he carries himself, and definitely the way he plays. He's a really good football player. Just looking forward to it and the week of prep we, we have for it.

Nate Frazier earned praise as well after his effort on the ground.

Nate was, he was running his butt off, just running hard for the team, and it was just cool to see him back out there and doing his thing.

And when the conversation turned to the downfield passing game, Stockton admitted there were chances he wanted back.

“There's a couple. There's one to Talyn.

I wish I would've threw to him. But definitely just getting a little bit better at that and just looking at the tape and getting better and attack it this week.”

For Stockton, the message after Georgia’s win was simple: enjoy it, then get back to work.

“Any win you celebrate. They're hard to come by and definitely got to cherish the hard work you put in for a whole year and everything. Definitely enjoy it for a day and then move on.”

Georgia Now Has A Bigger Concern Than Beating Florida

Ellis Robinson IV gave Georgia plenty to feel good about before the injury scare in Jacksonville, picking off a pass and adding tackles in the rivalry game against Florida before leaving in the third quarter with a lower-leg issue. Kirby Smart said Robinsons knee tightened up, and at the time there was no confirmed structural damage, but the cornerback did not return, leaving the Bulldogs to sort through both the result of the game and a developing concern in the secondary.

For a defense that has leaned on Robinsons playmaking, the bigger question now is how quickly Georgia can get clarity on his status for the stretch ahead. His availability for upcoming games is uncertain, and for a team with bigger goals than one rivalry win, any lingering issue with a key defensive back is the kind of problem that can ripple beyond a single afternoon. Eric Singleton Just Gave Georgia Fans One More Reason To Remember Him

Eric Singleton has spent plenty of time on the wrong side of Georgia, and not just once. The wide receiver has taken four losses to the Bulldogs while suiting up for three different rivals, first at Georgia Tech, then Auburn and Florida, which already made him a familiar name around these parts before his latest comments added another layer to the story.

During a recent press conference, Singleton made a remark about Georgia that drew attention quickly enough for Florida to remove it from the official transcript. It has only added to the intrigue around his future, too, with speculation growing about whether he could get an extra year of eligibility and what that might mean if he ends up looking for another transfer landing spot. Georgia's First CFP Spot Could Set An Early Bulldogs Debate

The first College Football Playoff rankings of the season arrive Tuesday night, and Georgia is expected to be part of the early conversation even before the field starts to take shape. Miamis narrow 38-35 win over North Carolina has the Hurricanes lined up for the No. 1 spot, but the Bulldogs will be watching closely to see where they land in a crowded opening picture that also includes Ohio State, Utah, UCLA, Indiana, Kentucky, BYU and Notre Dame.

For Georgia, the intrigue is less about one ranking and more about what it says about the committees first read on the SEC race and the Bulldogs place in it. The initial order will set the tone for the weeks ahead, with the final rankings due Dec. 6 and the 12-team bracket still to be decided, so every early placement carries extra weight for a team trying to stay positioned for the postseason path it wants.
