Since that night in Pasadena, Georgia has reached three national title games and won two of them, while Oklahoma has stayed competitive and even playoff worthy in 2025, but not viewed as a serious title threat.
Still, this is not a team to dismiss. Oklahoma may not have the offense to match Georgia score for score, but Venables’ defense gives the Sooners a puncher’s chance. The question is whether they can create enough chaos to make it matter.
