Miami just landed a major piece for the future, and Brysen Wright made sure the announcement came with a twist.
The top-rated wide receiver in the 2028 class committed to the Hurricanes on Thursday, picking Miami over Texas and Florida. Then Wright turned the news up another notch by revealing he will reclassify to 2027.
Wright has been on the radar for a long time. He first started drawing heavy attention as a freshman at St. Augustine High School, and the 6-foot-3, 215-pound receiver has since become the top in-state recruit for Mandarin High School in Jacksonville.
His recruitment was packed with heavyweight programs. Before narrowing things down, Wright picked up offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Louisville, Texas A&M, Oregon, and Tennessee. Miami got in early, too, becoming the first school to offer him officially in December 2023.
The Hurricanes also kept him close. Wright made repeated trips to campus for junior day events, elite recruiting weekend events, and summer prospect camps. His most recent visit came a couple of weeks ago, when he was in the building for Miami’s double-overtime win over Florida State.
On the field, Wright has backed up the hype. As a sophomore in 2025, he caught 46 passes for 903 yards and earned Sophomore All-American honors from MaxPreps.
That same site lists him with 46 receptions for 984 yards and 11 touchdowns for the 9-1 Mustangs. His next stop is the Florida Class 5A playoffs.
Wright is also part of a Miami pipeline that is starting to take shape. He has been catching passes this year from another Hurricanes commit, 3-star 2028 quarterback Knox Annis. Miami also has a commitment from 4-star offensive lineman Kweli Fielder out of Carrollton, Ga. in the 2028 class.
For Mario Cristobal and his staff, Wright’s pledge adds another jolt to a recruiting run that has already been strong. Miami had previously landed five 5-star recruits in the 2027 class, and now the Hurricanes are still in the hunt for 5-star edge-rusher DJ Jacobs and 5-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews with the Early Signing Period a month away.
If Miami can close on those two, this class could end up looking even bigger.

Georgia Faces A CFP Test That Could Tighten The SEC Race
Week 10 brings another round of SEC games with real playoff weight, and Georgias trip to Ole Miss sits near the center of it. The Bulldogs are part of a slate that also includes Alabama at LSU, a weekend that could reshape both the College Football Playoff picture and the conference race, with every result carrying more than just one loss in the standings.
For Georgia, the matchup in Oxford is the kind of test that tells you plenty about where a team stands in late October. The preview around the league points to game times, TV windows and the broader stakes, but the bigger question is how the Bulldogs handle a road environment against a ranked SEC opponent while the rest of the conference keeps tightening around them. Georgia Faces A Massive Ole Miss Test With Playoff Pressure Rising
Week 10 brings one of the biggest tests left on Georgias schedule, and the stakes go well beyond a single SEC win. Ole Miss has put itself squarely in the College Football Playoff conversation, and the matchup puts the Bulldogs in a setting where every drive matters, especially with the Rebels at home and the atmosphere likely to be a factor from the start.
Georgias edge could come from its rushing attack, but Ole Miss has its own answers if Trinidad Chambliss keeps playing at a high level. The Rebels also have to manage the uncertainty around Kewan Lacys injury, which adds another layer to a game already loaded with playoff pressure and little margin for error on either side. Georgia Is Counting On Elijah Griffin In A Huge Ole Miss Test
Elijah Griffin has gone from reserve to key starter in a hurry, and Georgia is leaning on that growth as it heads into a major SEC matchup with Ole Miss. The sophomore defensive lineman has become one of the more important pieces up front for a defense that has been among the leagues best, a rise that reflects both his development and the trust the Bulldogs have placed in him.
Griffin and his coaches have talked through how far he has come since his freshman season, when he was still working mostly in a backup role. Now the focus shifts to how that progress holds up against a dangerous Ole Miss offense, with Georgia counting on its defensive strength to travel into one of the seasons biggest tests.
