Georgia Suddenly Has A Real Fight To Keep Jayden Wade

Georgia strategically counters Michigan's recruitment of five-star quarterback Jayden Wade by pinpointing Michigan's current quarterback development woes.

Georgia has a straightforward answer to the Jayden Wade question, and it starts with Bryce Underwood.

Wade, a five-star quarterback and the No. 1 QB in the country, has been committed to Georgia for more than a year.

But according to reporting from @SWiltfong_, the 2028 Georgia pledge will take a visit to Michigan this weekend. That puts one of college football’s biggest names squarely in the mix to try to pull off a flip.

Michigan has the kind of brand that can make that conversation real. In the NIL era, Georgia and Michigan are the only Power Four programs to win three conference titles since 2021. Georgia has the edge in championships with two national titles to Michigan’s one, but the two programs have otherwise posted similar success in that stretch.

Still, Georgia’s best argument may be the simplest one: Michigan has not handled quarterback development well lately.

The Wolverines have missed the playoff the past two seasons, and poor quarterback play has been a major reason. That problem has been front and center with Underwood, who was benched ahead of Michigan’s next game this weekend.

Underwood entered college as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class, and recruiting sites had him rated higher than Wade is now. But over two seasons in Ann Arbor, his stock has only gone down, and the first game he won’t start in his college career lines up with the weekend Wade is set to be on campus.

That gives Georgia a clean pitch: if Michigan couldn’t get the best version of Underwood, why trust it with Wade?

The one lever Michigan still has is money. Georgia is not the school known for making the biggest NIL splash with elite targets, while Michigan has already shown it can go big.

The Wolverines reportedly offered Underwood more than $12 million to flip from LSU two years ago, and they could try something similar with Wade. Whether they’re willing to go that far this time is not certain.

Wade has shown some interest in Michigan since committing to Georgia, but this visit is the strongest sign yet that the Wolverines may be a real threat. For Georgia, the message is clear: point to Underwood, point to the benching, and remind Wade why staying put might still be the smarter move.

Georgia May Be Missing A Crucial Defender Against Florida

Georgias secondary could be in a tricky spot again this week as KJ Bolden works his way back from the injury he suffered against Alabama. The safety already sat out the Auburn game, and his absence was noticeable in a defense that struggled without one of its more reliable pieces. For a team heading into Florida, any question at safety carries extra weight.

Kirby Smart said Bolden is hopeful to return, but he still has to get through the doctors protocol before being cleared. That leaves Georgia waiting on one of its key defenders at a time when the Bulldogs would prefer as much stability as possible, especially with a rival on deck and the defense still trying to settle back in after a rough stretch. CJ Cypher Is Back At The Center Of Georgia QB Debate

The latest Georgia QB Index again has CJ Cypher at the top, and after Carrolltons 62-13 rout of Northgate, it is not hard to see why. He tossed five touchdown passes in the win, pushing his season total to 35 without an interception and reinforcing the kind of efficiency that keeps him in the center of the statewide conversation.

Still, Cypher is hardly alone in the mix. Aidan McPherson, Ethan Tisdale, Kamden Patterson and Tucker Parson all turned in performances that mattered in the rankings, which is what makes the Index worth watching week to week. It is built on recent production, efficiency, opponent quality and team results, so even with Cypher sitting on top, the margin for error around the rest of the field remains slim. [Read more 🡒]

Georgia Just Lost Ground In A Key Recruiting Battle

Georgias 2027 recruiting class took a hit when linebacker Temorris Campbell backed off his commitment, a notable development for a group that had already been trying to build momentum early. Campbell had pledged to Georgia in May and arrived with a strong reputation, standing among the top linebackers in the country and one of the best at his position in Florida.

The timing matters because Georgia still has only one linebacker pledged in the class, Joakim Gouda, even as the Bulldogs remain ninth nationally in 247Sports team rankings. Losing ground with a player like Campbell does not end the pursuit, but it does put a little more pressure on the staff to steady the board and keep pace in a recruiting race that is still very much taking shape.
