Georgia Suddenly Has A Depth Concern Ahead Of Ole Miss

Georgia faces a reshuffled lineup against Ole Miss as it updates its availability report, impacting key players in crucial roles.

ATHENS - Georgia’s availability picture shifted again Thursday night, with the SEC’s latest report trimming one name off the list and adding three more to watch.

Wide receiver Isiah Canion is no longer on the report after opening the week as probable. He was dressed for Georgia’s game against Florida last week but did not get into the contest. Canion’s last appearance for Georgia came against Arkansas, and he has three catches for 28 yards this season.

Thomas Blackshear remains questionable. He has not played since suffering a collarbone injury against Vanderbilt on Oct. 3.

The Bulldogs also continue to monitor running back Chauncey Bowens, who is questionable after missing action since the Vanderbilt game. Georgia has filled some of that workload with Bo Walker over the last two wins. Walker posted 27 yards and a touchdown against Florida.

In the backfield against Florida, Nate Frazier and Dwight Phillips each finished with 67 rushing yards. Frazier also scored his first rushing touchdown since Georgia’s win over Arkansas after missing time earlier in the season with a rib injury.

Georgia added tight end Elyiss Williams, defensive end Joseph Jonah-Ajonye and linebacker AJ Kruah to the report on Wednesday, and all three are listed as questionable on Thursday.

Williams has been a useful piece in the passing game, putting up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns. If he can’t go, Georgia could lean more on Lawson Luckie, Jaden Reddell and Ethan Barbour.

Jonah-Ajonye usually works in support of Gabe Harris on the defensive line, and Isaiah Gibson would be next in line at defensive end if needed. Kruah’s role is mostly on special teams, while Georgia has depth at linebacker with Raylen Wilson, Chris Cole and Justin Williams.

Outside linebacker Amaris Williams was ruled out on Wednesday. The Auburn transfer has not played in a game this season.

The SEC will release another availability report Friday, then one more 90 minutes before kickoff Saturday. Georgia’s matchup with Ole Miss is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Georgia Heads To Ole Miss With Key Availability Questions

Georgias first availability report for the Ole Miss game offered a clearer picture of who is trending toward playing, but it still left a few important pieces unsettled. Wide receiver Isiah Canion was listed as probable, while running back Chauncey Bowens was among six Georgia players tagged questionable. Outside linebacker Amaris Williams was ruled out, and cornerback Ellis Robinson IV along with running back Dwight Phillips Jr. were not listed after leaving the previous game.

For Georgia, the report matters because this trip to Ole Miss already carries enough weight without added uncertainty in the lineup. The Rebels have their own long list of availability concerns, with nine players ruled out and several more sitting in the questionable or probable range, so both sides are heading into the matchup with some moving parts still to sort through before kickoff. Georgia Heads Into A Revenge Game With Playoff Pressure Rising

Saturday night brings a familiar kind of pressure for Georgia, with Ole Miss coming to town for a 7:30 p.m. EST kickoff on ABC. The Bulldogs are favored by 3.5 points at DraftKings Sportsbook, which says plenty about how tight this one is expected to be, and it also says plenty about the stakes. Gunner Stockton will be under the spotlight for Georgia, while Ole Miss will lean on Trinidad Chambliss in a matchup that has already taken on a little extra edge because of what happened the last time these teams met.

For Georgia, this is about more than just settling a score. Ole Miss has beaten the Bulldogs before, and another loss would make the playoff picture a lot less forgiving as rankings pressure starts to build. The game is also available on the ESPN app and Fubo TV, but for Georgia fans, the real focus is simple enough: a close SEC game with a chance to answer back, and a result that could shape how the committee views the Bulldogs when it matters most. Georgia Fans Have A New QB Race To Watch Closely

The quarterback conversation in Georgia is not just about the Bulldogs depth chart anymore. The Georgia QB Index is tracking the states top high school passers based on their 2026 season work, weighing recent production, efficiency, opponent quality and team results, and it has quickly become another way for fans to keep tabs on the next wave of arms coming through the state.

CJ Cypher sits atop the list after a standout regular season that included 48 touchdown passes and no interceptions, a run that has separated him from the pack so far. But the race behind him is tightening, with Tucker Parson, Ethan Tisdale and Ben Musser all climbing after strong recent showings, turning the rankings into a weekly watch for anyone following Georgias quarterback pipeline.
