Georgia Stuns Kentucky, Eyes March Madness With No. 10 Seed Projection

Georgia Bulldogs Surge in NCAA Tournament Projections Following Landmark Victory at Kentucky

With just a few games left in the regular season, the Georgia Bulldogs are inching closer to securing a spot in March Madness. Aiming for consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since the early 2000s, Georgia is currently projected as a 10 seed by both ESPN and CBS Sports.

CBS Sports places Georgia as the No. 10 seed in the West Region, potentially facing No. 7 seed Utah State. Meanwhile, ESPN has them against No. 7 seed Villanova in Buffalo. BracketMatrix.com recently ranked Georgia as the top No. 11 seed.

Georgia's recent victory was a crucial one, snapping their second losing streak of the season. After a win at LSU, they suffered losses to Florida and Oklahoma.

However, their 86-78 triumph at Kentucky, marking their first win at Rupp Arena since 2009, has boosted their NCAA hopes. This win moved them from the "work to do" category to "should be in," according to ESPN's Bubble Watch.

The Bulldogs have had a roller coaster season. After a strong start, winning 16 of their first 19 games, they hit a rough patch, losing five of six.

This saw their at-large bid chances drop from 97% to 66% in just three weeks. But with their recent victory, those chances have climbed back to 84%.

Currently, Georgia ranks 40th in overall résumé rankings, with six wins against BPI top 50 teams, and boasts the SEC's easiest remaining schedule.

In their win against Kentucky, Blue Cain led with 20 points, while Jeremiah Wilkinson made a significant impact off the bench, scoring 19 points after missing previous games.

Head coach Mike White praised the team’s collective effort: "Offensively, we cut hard, shared the ball, and made good decisions. Defensively, we were really connected. It was a team effort, and our physicality was a big factor."

Looking ahead, Georgia will face Texas at home on Saturday, with a 3:30 p.m. ET tip-off on SEC Network. Texas is on a five-game winning streak and is also projected as a "should be in" team, currently holding a No. 9 seed in ESPN's Bracketology.
