The senior out of Tiger, Georgia rushed seven times for 97 yards and ripped off a 62-yard run that left the Arkansas defense scrambling. That burst helped open everything up for the Bulldogs offense in the SEC opener, and Stockton also finished 10-for-13 for 147 yards with a touchdown pass as Georgia stayed undefeated and moved to 1-0 in the SEC. On a day when the Razorbacks kept giving him room, Stockton made them pay and gave Georgia a weapon all over the field.
On the other side of the ball, Justin Williams delivered the kind of linebacker performance that shows up on the scoreboard and in the flow of the game. The junior from Conroe, Texas posted four tackles, including two solo stops, and added a sack that knocked Arkansas out of field goal range. At 6-2 and 225 pounds, Williams brought speed and awareness that made him a constant problem for the Razorbacks, and his work fit right in with a Georgia defense that continues to look like a group opponents will have to deal with all season.
Then there was London Humphreys, whose impact came on special teams. The senior receiver blocked a punt coming off the right edge, giving Georgia the ball inside Arkansas territory.
Humphreys has settled into the Bulldogs’ culture since arriving on campus, and Saturday’s play was another reminder that his value goes beyond catching passes.
