Georgia’s defense kept rolling against Florida, but the Bulldogs left Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a question hanging over one of their biggest playmakers.
Cornerback Ellis Robinson IV went down with an apparent lower-leg injury in the third quarter of Saturday’s rivalry game and did not return in Georgia’s 27-8 win over the Gators. After the game, Kirby Smart said the issue appeared to involve Robinson’s knee, though the coach stopped short of offering a firm diagnosis.
"His knee tightened up on him," Smart said. "I don't know if it happened on the interception, because I saw a replay of the interception.
I thought he got hit right on the knee. But we don't really know.
Don't think there was anything structurally wrong. It just tightened up on him.
It looked like a Charlie Horse or a bruise, but honestly, I don't know."
Robinson was seen on the sideline holding his helmet for two defensive possessions after leaving the game, but there was no confirmed update on the severity of the injury at the time of the report. The injury concern surfaced with No.
3 Georgia already in control, leading No. 17 Florida 24-0 in the third quarter.
Before the setback, Robinson had already made his presence felt. On Florida’s opening possession, quarterback Aaron Philo was pressured on third-and-6, lost his balance and floated an underhand throw while trying to avoid a sack. Robinson stepped in front of it for an interception and returned it eight yards, giving Georgia the ball at the Florida 41-yard line.
It was Robinson’s second interception of the season and the sixth of his Georgia career. Unofficial live stats also credited him with two tackles, including one solo stop, before he exited.
Georgia didn’t cash in immediately after the takeaway. A roughing-the-punter penalty extended the drive, and Nate Frazier finished it off with a one-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0 late in the first quarter.
That play was part of a first half in which Georgia’s defense completely smothered Florida. Demello Jones added another interception, Chris Cole brought back a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown just before halftime, and the Gators were held to 115 yards while going scoreless through two quarters.
Robinson’s importance goes well beyond the stat sheet. The junior entered the game as a preseason All-American and a second-team AP midseason All-American, giving Georgia a proven corner who lets the Bulldogs play aggressively without constantly leaning on safety help. He also came in with four interceptions and seven pass breakups during his breakout 2025 season, along with FWAA Freshman Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Florida later turned to Tramell Jones Jr. after Philo’s early struggles, which changed the look of the matchup for Georgia’s secondary. The Bulldogs still had enough depth to keep the pressure on, and Braylon Conley added an interception of his own off Jones later in the third quarter.
For Georgia, though, the biggest issue now is Robinson’s status. The immediate question is whether he can return Saturday. The bigger one is whether the lower-leg injury affects his availability beyond the rivalry game, with Ole Miss coming to Athens next week.

Georgias Auburn Loss Suddenly Looks Even More Costly
Auburns upset of No. 1 Georgia looked like one of the seasons biggest results two weeks ago, but the Tigers have since taken hard losses to LSU and Ole Miss, which has changed the way that defeat is being viewed around the SEC. What once felt like a jolt to the national title picture now reads a little differently, with the Bulldogs left to wonder whether a rough afternoon in Auburn was as much about timing and fortune as it was about anything deeper.
For Georgia, the larger issue is what the loss does to the road ahead. The Bulldogs path to the SEC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff is still alive, but it has become less forgiving, and the next stretch matters even more now. Florida looms as a critical test, the kind of game that could shape whether Georgia stays on course or has to fight through a far narrower postseason lane. [Read more 🡒]
Georgia Gets A Huge Rivalry Boost For Florida Showdown
Talyn Taylor is set to give Georgia another weapon for one of the seasons most familiar pressure points, and the timing could not be better. The wide receiver will be available against Florida for the first time after missing last years rivalry game because of injury, adding a fresh layer to a matchup that already carries plenty of weight for the Bulldogs.
This years meeting also comes with a different backdrop, with the game shifting to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and both teams ranked for the first time in the series since 2002. ABC will carry the broadcast, with streaming options available as well, but for Georgia the bigger storyline is simple: a key playmaker finally gets his first crack at a rivalry stage he had to watch from the sideline a year ago. Eric Singleton Just Gave Georgia Fans One More Reason To Remember Him
Eric Singleton has spent plenty of time on the wrong side of Georgia, and not just once. The wide receiver has taken four losses to the Bulldogs while suiting up for three different rivals, first at Georgia Tech, then Auburn and Florida, which makes him a familiar name around Athens even before any offseason chatter about his future.
Now Singleton has added a fresh layer to that history with a remark about Georgia that drew enough attention to be pulled from Floridas official press conference transcript. The comment has only fueled the conversation around what comes next for him, especially with speculation swirling about whether he could get another year of eligibility and what that might mean if he enters the transfer market again.
