Georgia May Have One Big Edge In Race For 5-Star Kellan Hall

With Georgia's impressive performance and a strategic focus beyond NIL offers, Kellan Hall weighs his options, pondering if the Bulldogs have what it takes to secure his commitment.

Five-star defensive lineman Kellan Hall left Athens with Georgia still very much in the mix, and one thing is hanging over his decision: NIL.

Hall was among several five-stars on campus this past weekend for Georgia’s game against Oklahoma, and he came away sounding positive about what the Bulldogs can offer. Still, he made it clear that the financial side of the picture is something he’s thinking about.

Hall said he isn’t sure how much NIL will ultimately affect his choice, but if Georgia were to put together a competitive offer, he admitted it would be difficult to turn down Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.

“It will definitely be pretty tough,” Hall said via dawgnation.com.

That visit also came with a front-row look at Oklahoma, a program Hall had recently been predicted to commit to. About a week earlier, he was projected to land with the Sooners, so the timing of his trip added another layer to the weekend, even if he was officially there to visit Georgia.

What he saw on the field probably didn’t help Oklahoma’s case. Georgia controlled the game from the start, jumping out to a two-score lead, forcing multiple turnovers and adding a defensive touchdown in the second quarter. The Bulldogs took a 28-0 lead into halftime and rolled to a 41-13 win.

For a recruit who is weighing Georgia against Oklahoma, that kind of result can matter. At the very least, Hall left Athens with a strong impression of the program.

“They’ve got everything you can think of,” Hall continued. “They’ve got Coach [Tray] Scott.

They’ve got coach Kirby [Smart]. They practice hard.

They practice physical.”

Hall is ranked as the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2028 class, so this is going to be a fight. Georgia is competing for one of the top players in the country, and the race is nowhere near finished. Hall has said he plans to commit in early 2027, which gives the Bulldogs time to keep pushing their case.

Georgias Oklahoma Win Put One Bulldogs Strength In Clear Focus

Georgias 41-13 rout of Oklahoma did more than keep the Bulldogs rolling against unranked opponents, extending that streak to 52 in a row. It also offered another reminder of how complete this team can look when the run game and defense are both in rhythm, with Dwight Phillips Jr. and Chauncey Bowens helping set the tone on the ground while Talyn Taylor provided a useful spark in the passing game.

The defensive side may have left the clearest impression. Georgia forced four turnovers and turned one of them into points when Chris Cole returned a fumble for a touchdown, the kind of play that can break an opponents spirit and change the feel of a game in a hurry. For all the balance on offense, it was the Bulldogs ability to create chaos on defense that again stood out most, especially in a matchup that pushed their all-time record against Oklahoma to 2-0. Mike Bobos Georgia Offense Is Finally Creating A New Problem

Georgias offense has spent the first month of the season creating a kind of problem the program can live with: too many explosive plays to keep track of. Through four games, the Bulldogs have already piled up six plays of more than 50 yards, a sharp contrast from the season before, and that burst has helped fuel the nations No. 1 scoring offense. Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has leaned into a more aggressive approach, and it has shown up across the depth chart rather than through one isolated weapon.

Gunner Stockton and Talyn Taylor have both talked about the need for Georgia to keep attacking in space, and the production has come from multiple sources. Nate Frazier, Jaden Reddell and Craig Dandridge have all had a hand in the bigger-play surge, giving the offense a different feel than the more methodical units that came before it. For a team already built to win on depth and balance, the next challenge is less about finding explosiveness and more about making sure it stays part of the weekly identity. [Read more 🡒]

Ole Miss Has A New National QB Talking Point Fans Will Love

ESPN analyst Bill Connellys latest quarterback rankings gave the SEC plenty to chew on, with five league passers landing in the top 12 and a handful of familiar names drawing fresh attention. Among them is Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton, who sits in the mix with a group that also includes Ole Miss standout Trinidad Chambliss, Alabamas Keelon Russell, Mississippi States Aaron Philo, and Mississippi State signee Kamario Taylor.

Taylors rise is one of the more notable storylines in the bunch, a reflection of how quickly quarterback evaluations can shift once a young player starts putting cleaner, more complete performances on tape. The rankings also set up some added intrigue around the SEC schedule, especially with Alabama and Mississippi State set to meet, since these quarterback conversations now bleed directly into the games that will shape the conference race.
