Georgia’s spot near the top of the AP Top 25 held firm after Week 4, with the Bulldogs checking in at No. 2 behind Texas in Sunday’s latest rankings.
Texas stayed at No. 1 and picked up 62 first-place votes. Georgia collected six, while Indiana and Miami each got one. The Bulldogs, fresh off a 41-13 home win over Oklahoma, remain in the same place they occupied in the Coaches Poll as well.
The rest of the SEC is crowded into the rankings, with Alabama at No. 7, Florida at No.
8, Ole Miss at No. 9 and LSU at No. 11.
Mississippi State comes in at No. 16, Tennessee at No.
17, Kentucky at No. 24 and Missouri at No. 25.
That gives the league five teams in the top 10 and 10 teams in the top 25.

Georgia’s win over Oklahoma pushed the Bulldogs to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The defense kept Sooners quarterback John Mateer uncomfortable all afternoon, forced four turnovers and helped build a four-touchdown cushion by halftime that never went away.
Big defensive plays came from linebacker Chris Cole and defensive backs Rasean Dinkins and KJ Bolden, while Talyn Taylor and Dwight Phillips Jr. supplied the explosive moments on offense. The victory also moved Georgia to 2-0 all-time against Oklahoma.
“Excited for the turnout, the atmosphere, that's what an SEC atmosphere is supposed to be like,” head coach Kirby Smart said after the game. “Really amazing, awesome atmosphere, I thought it was a great deal.”
Smart also pointed to what he believes the Bulldogs can take from the performance.
“That we continue to improve, that hard work pays off, that preparation and consistency and performance is what keeps you in the win column,” Smart said. “You know, like we prepare well.
We play with consistency. We don't take our preparation lightly.
And our staff puts a tremendous amount of work into every one of these games. They're really hard to get ready for.
And a lot of sacrifices are made through the staff and the players. And you've got to be willing to do those.”
Georgia now turns to Vanderbilt, which visits Athens on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Kickoff is set for 12:45 p.m. ET, and the game will air on SEC Network.
