Friday brought a little bit of everything for Georgia football: a jolt in the SEC Championship odds, a pile of preseason All-SEC recognition, and a homecoming date that gives the Bulldogs a very intriguing October matchup.
The biggest shift came in Vegas. All offseason, sportsbooks kept Texas ahead of Georgia in the SEC title race, even if the gap never felt huge.
That changed fast on Friday after the media picked Georgia as the league favorite. FanDuel Sportsbook moved the Bulldogs to the top at +290, while Texas slid to +330.

Georgia also dominated the preseason All-SEC teams, landing 12 selections across the three squads released by the media. That total led the conference, though one name was hard to miss for its absence: kicker Peyton Woodring.
Woodring was excellent last season, making 17 of 19 field goal attempts and going perfect on PATs. That performance earned him All-SEC second-team honors from the media and coaches at the end of the year, so his omission from the first, second and third teams this preseason stands out. He returns for his senior season, and the snub should give him plenty of fuel.
Georgia’s homecoming game will come on Oct. 3, when Vanderbilt visits Athens. The matchup already has some juice because the Commodores have been a much better program over the last two years, but there’s another layer here too: former five-star quarterback commit Jared Curtis.
Curtis flipped to Vanderbilt last year just days before signing day, and that left a sour taste in Georgia’s mouth. If he wins the starting job, the Bulldogs will get a shot at him this season - and they could do it on homecoming, which would make the whole thing even sweeter in Athens.

With top pass-catchers gone to the NFL, the Bulldogs need younger options to emerge quickly, and the spotlight is on names like Talyn Taylor and Isiah Canion to help fill the void.
