Georgia’s offense will have to take on Alabama without one of its starting wide receivers.
Isiah Canion was ruled out on Friday night’s SEC injury report after entering the week as questionable for Saturday night’s primetime game in Tuscaloosa, set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The junior had already missed Georgia’s last two games with a leg injury, and now he’ll sit out a third straight contest.
Canion’s absence leaves Georgia without a player who had shown up in the rotation early this season. He has three catches for 28 yards, with his last reception coming in Week 2 against Western Kentucky. His most recent game action came in the first quarter of Georgia’s Week 3 win at Arkansas, when he left on the opening series with a bone bruise in his right knee.
Georgia listed Canion as questionable on the first two injury reports this week, so there was at least some hope he might be available for what’s being called arguably the Bulldogs’ most important regular-season game. That hope faded Friday night, when he was officially tagged out.
Canion was one of six Georgia players ruled out for the Alabama matchup. The others were wide receiver Thomas Blackshear, tailback Chauncey Bowens, outside linebacker Amaris Williams, defensive back Tyriq Green and offensive lineman Marcus Harrison.
Without Canion, Georgia’s path gets tougher in a big road spot. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Georgia’s chances to overcome Canion’s absence and prevail in primetime in Tuscaloosa:

Georgia Just Got Extra Fuel Before Its Biggest Alabama Test
The buildup around Georgias meeting with Alabama got a little more pointed this week when the College GameDay crew made its picks for the SEC heavyweight showdown. Three of the four panelists, including Nick Saban and Bryce Young, leaned toward Alabama, adding another layer of outside doubt to a game that already carries major weight in the SEC Championship race and the College Football Playoff picture.
Saturday nights kickoff at 7:30 p.m. EST gives Georgia the chance to answer all of that on the field. A win would give the Bulldogs a major edge in both races, while also offering the kind of resume boost that can define the rest of the season. [Read more 🡒]
Georgia Must Now Prepare For An Alabama Twist They Didn't Expect
Georgias preparation for Saturday night just got a little more complicated. Alabama tight end Josh Ford, who broke his arm last week against Mississippi State, is expected to be available against the Bulldogs, adding another layer to a matchup already heavy with SEC stakes. Ford has been an important blocker in Alabamas offense this season, and hes also shown he can matter as a receiver after catching a touchdown against South Carolina.
For Georgia, the timing of that update matters because Alabamas tight end usage can change the feel of a game at the line of scrimmage and in the red zone. The Bulldogs will have to account for Ford at Bryant-Denny Stadium when the teams kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, and any late twist like this can force a defense to adjust its plan on the fly. Georgia Fans Still Have One Big Concern About Saturday's Storm
Hurricane Isaias has already forced a ripple of changes across the college football schedule, with seven games adjusted as the storm strengthens and moves toward landfall near Pensacola Beach. West Floridas home game was canceled outright, while other matchups in the Carolinas and Alabama were pushed to earlier or later kickoff times as schools and leagues tried to work around the weather.
For Georgia fans, though, the biggest eye-opener is that Saturday night in Tuscaloosa is still on the board in its original primetime slot. The Georgia-Alabama matchup remains scheduled as planned, even if game day operations have been adjusted, leaving plenty of attention on how the storms path and the surrounding conditions could still affect one of the weekends marquee games.
