Georgia’s SEC opener comes with a kickoff that should suit the Bulldogs just fine.
After rolling past Western Kentucky 70-20 on Saturday, Georgia heads to Arkansas in Week 3, and the start time stands out almost as much as the matchup itself. The Bulldogs and Razorbacks are set for a 12:00 pm EST kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 19, which means an 11:00 am local start in Arkansas.
That early window could work heavily in Georgia’s favor. Day games on the road are already easier to manage than the usual SEC night environments, and noon kickoffs tend to be the quietest part of the day in the stands. In this case, Arkansas fans will have even less time to build the kind of atmosphere that can make a road trip difficult.
The timing gets even better for Georgia when you factor in what Arkansas just went through. The Razorbacks played at Utah on Saturday night with an 8:15 pm local kickoff, which was 9:15 CST and 10:15 EST.
That leaves Arkansas with a short turnaround and little Sunday prep after a late trip home. It was a point Arkansas raised months ago when the game time was announced, and it’s easy to see why.
The game will air on ABC, giving Georgia its first appearance of the season on a national broadcast. The Bulldogs’ opener wasn’t televised, and Saturday’s win over Western Kentucky was on the SEC Network. Fans can also watch through the ESPN app and Fubo TV.
Vegas isn’t giving Arkansas much of a shot either. FanDuel Sportsbook has Georgia as a 21.5-point favorite, with the over-under sitting at 53.5. ESPN’s matchup predictor is even more lopsided, giving the Bulldogs a 96 percent chance to win.
Georgia isn’t often laying three touchdowns against an SEC opponent, especially on the road. But Arkansas has already had a shaky start, barely getting past North Alabama in Week 1 before getting blown out by Utah in Week 2. Georgia, meanwhile, keeps looking like one of the best teams in the country, and this one could get uncomfortable for the Razorbacks in a hurry.
