Georgia Freshman London Seymour Charged With 11 Felonies in Shocking Case

The son of a Hall of Famer and a promising Georgia freshman faces serious legal trouble after a string of alleged property damage incidents on campus.

Georgia Freshman DL London Seymour Arrested on Property Damage Charges

Georgia freshman defensive lineman London Seymour, the son of Bulldogs legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Richard Seymour, was arrested on January 29 and charged with 11 felony counts of second-degree criminal damage to property, according to jail records from Athens-Clarke County.

Seymour was booked into the Athens-Clarke County jail at 9:44 p.m. on that Monday night and released just over an hour later, at 10:57 p.m., after posting bond. Records show that the first charge carried a bond of $1,100, with an additional $5,000 bond due at the time of arrest. As of now, the university has not issued a statement regarding Seymour’s arrest or his current standing with the football program.

While specific details surrounding the incident haven’t been made public, the Athens Banner-Herald reported that the charges stem from alleged damage at two on-campus locations - Rooker Hall and Busbee Hall. Both are residence halls on Georgia’s campus, and the nature of the damage has not yet been disclosed.

Seymour, listed at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, saw limited action in his first season with the Bulldogs. He appeared in one game, logging snaps in Georgia’s Week 1 blowout win over Marshall.

Despite his limited role on the field, Seymour carried a notable legacy into Athens. As the son of one of the most dominant defensive linemen in program history - and a member of both the Patriots' dynasty and the Pro Football Hall of Fame - expectations were high for his development.

Coming out of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia, Seymour was a three-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He was ranked as the 123rd defensive tackle in the country and initially committed to Boston College. However, he ultimately chose to walk on at Georgia, turning down offers from Colorado, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, and Marshall to join Kirby Smart’s program.

This arrest adds a layer of uncertainty to Seymour’s future with the Bulldogs. While he was still early in his collegiate career, his family name and physical tools made him a player to watch in the coming seasons. Now, with legal matters pending and his status with the team unclear, the focus shifts to how both Seymour and the program will respond in the weeks ahead.
