Georgia Coaches Bobo and Schumann Score Big With New Raises

Georgia coordinators Mike Bobo and Glenn Schumann have been rewarded with significant raises following their roles in leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back SEC Championships.

The Georgia Bulldogs are riding high after securing back-to-back SEC Championships, a feat they haven't achieved since the early '80s. A big part of their success can be attributed to the stellar work of offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, both of whom have been rewarded with significant salary increases.

Bobo is seeing a $700,000 boost, while Schumann receives an extra $100,000. This brings their earnings to $2.2 million each for the upcoming academic year.

Bobo's journey with Georgia has been impressive. Promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023 with a starting salary of $1 million, he signed an extension in 2024 that increased his pay to $1.503 million.

Before the recent raise, he was set to make $1.603 million in 2026. His leadership has been pivotal, with the Bulldogs' offense finishing the 2025 season ranked 28th in scoring and 4th in red-zone efficiency.

Bobo was also a finalist for the Broyles Award, highlighting his exceptional impact as the only offensive coordinator nominated for the prestigious honor.

Georgia's head coach Kirby Smart praised Bobo's strategic approach, emphasizing the importance of efficiency over sheer numbers. The offense isn't just about racking up stats; it's about executing in critical areas like the red zone and maintaining a strong running game.

Quarterback Gunner Stockton shone in his first season as a starter, completing nearly 70% of his passes for 2,894 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He also added 462 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, showcasing his dual-threat capabilities. Running back Nate Frazier and wide receiver Zachariah Branch were also standout performers, contributing significantly to the Bulldogs' offensive prowess.

On the defensive side, Schumann has been a cornerstone of Georgia's dominance. Under his guidance, the Bulldogs ranked at the top of the SEC in red-zone defense and were among the national leaders in several key defensive categories.

Schumann's rise has been meteoric since joining Kirby Smart's staff as a young coach. He quickly became a key figure, helping to shape one of the most formidable defenses in college football.

Schumann's tenure has been marked by developing elite talent, including producing multiple Butkus Award winners and finalists. His ability to nurture top-tier linebackers has been a hallmark of his coaching career.

As Georgia continues to build on its recent successes, the leadership of Bobo and Schumann will be crucial. Their contributions have not only brought championships but have also set a high standard for excellence within the program. With their new contracts, they're poised to keep the Bulldogs at the forefront of college football for years to come.
