Georgia Bolsters 2026 Class with Two New IMG Stars

Georgia Bulldogs bolster their 2026 lineup with top talent from IMG Academy, continuing a powerful recruitment legacy.

Georgia's recruiting strategy has always been about tapping into top talent, and their relationship with IMG Academy is a testament to that approach. Recently, the Bulldogs added two standout players from IMG to their 2026 class: safety Zech Fort and defensive lineman Preston Carey. These additions continue a successful trend under Kirby Smart, joining the ranks of former IMG stars like Nolan Smith and Ellis Robinson.

IMG Academy is renowned for producing elite athletes, and Georgia's trust in their program is evident. "To not only just be there to survive, but to thrive," says Georgia defensive backs coach Donte Williams, highlighting the caliber of players that come through IMG.

Zech Fort is a prime example of this excellence. Hailing from the West Coast, Fort made a significant impact at IMG, becoming the first-ever four-year team captain in the academy's history.

His leadership and maturity are qualities that have already caught the eye of his future coaches. Williams praises Fort's dedication and growth, noting, "He's a four-year team captain at IMG.

Crazy, right? Four-year starter.

You get a guy who's already a leader and mature."

Fort's journey from California to Florida at a young age speaks to his resilience and commitment. His physical transformation from a 165-pound freshman to a 200-pound force showcases his work ethic and readiness to contribute to Georgia's defense. Fort's versatility allows him to play multiple roles, making him a valuable asset for the Bulldogs.

Preston Carey's path to Georgia began early, with Bulldogs' defensive line coach Tray Scott spotting his potential back in 2022. Scott recalls first seeing Carey at a Temple satellite camp when he was just an eighth-grader.

"He and his dad drove down from Long Island to Philly, and I offered him. So I've been with Preston since he was a rising freshman," Scott shares.

Carey's development has been impressive, transforming his physique and mindset to fit the demands of Georgia's defensive line. Scott describes Carey as a "Hulk" with a big frame, ready to bring depth and strength to the trenches.

Both Fort and Carey embody the qualities Georgia values: leadership, dedication, and a love for the game. Their addition to the Bulldogs' roster not only strengthens the team but also continues Georgia's tradition of recruiting excellence from IMG Academy.
