Georgia Alabama Just Got An Even Bigger Stage

College GameDay returns to Tuscaloosa for a high-stakes showdown as the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs take on the resilient Alabama Crimson Tide in a marquee SEC clash.

College GameDay is headed back to Tuscaloosa, and Georgia will be in the center of the spotlight again in Week 6.

ESPN’s long-running pregame show announced Saturday night that it will be on site for next week’s matchup between No. 2 Georgia and No.

7 Alabama. It’s the first Georgia game GameDay has featured since last December’s SEC title game, and the Bulldogs’ first regular-season appearance on the show since last October’s meeting with Ole Miss.

Both teams enter the showdown at 5-0. Georgia rolled past Vanderbilt 38-14 at home on Saturday, while Alabama followed with a 56-23 win at Mississippi State.

The Oct. 10 game in Tuscaloosa is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC. It will be Georgia’s first primetime start of the season and its third game on ABC.

The series history is loaded with Alabama holding a 45-27-6 edge all-time. The teams split last season, with Alabama winning 24-21 in Athens on Sept. 27 before Georgia answered with a 28-7 win in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. ESPN’s FPI gives Georgia a 53.6 percent chance to beat Alabama.

Kirby Smart brushed off the buildup after the win over Vanderbilt, framing the matchup as just another week in the SEC.

"It's the next week in the SEC, guys," Smart said. "Guess what?

Week after that one, there's another week. I mean, they're all big.

There's not one that's not big. This one's big.

Wasn't big to y'all. It's big to us because I have respect.

That team never quits. I mean, there's teams that were up on them.

They came back. I mean, I'm enjoying this victory, and then we're going to turn the page tomorrow.

Come Sunday, we're going to turn the page on that one. Like, that's what we do.

We're really consistent in our approach to things. Let y'all deal with the highs and lows."

This will be Georgia’s 44th appearance on College GameDay, which ranks third-most in college football. The Bulldogs are 23-20 when their game is featured on the show, and they were 3-0 in GameDay games in 2025, with wins over Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Alabama.

College GameDay first aired in 1987 and has been on site since 1993, building its reputation by traveling to the biggest games on the schedule each week. For the schools that host it, the show brings a three-hour showcase for the campus, the crowd and the game itself.

The last time GameDay was at Georgia-Alabama was in 2024, when the teams met in Tuscaloosa and Alabama won 41-34.

Georgia Alabama Showdown Suddenly Faces A Serious SEC Problem

A storm building in the Gulf of Mexico has put the Georgia-Alabama matchup on shaky ground, with the weather threat now hanging over one of the SECs most anticipated games. Chief meteorologist James Spann has said there is a chance the system could strengthen into a hurricane and come ashore near Mobile Bay, a development that has already prompted the league to start thinking through contingency plans.

For Georgia fans, the concern is no longer just about travel or tailgating, but whether the game stays where it is scheduled to be played at all. The SEC is weighing options that include moving the contest to another stadium or pushing it back, and a final call is expected once the weather picture becomes clearer. [Read more 🡒]

Georgia Heads To Alabama With Confidence And One New Concern

Georgia heads into its trip to Alabama sounding like a team that expects to handle the moment, not be overwhelmed by it. Defensive tackle Elijah Griffin set the tone with his confidence and his sense that the group is ready to meet the challenge head-on, while Kirby Smart and the staff have kept their focus on the same old job of preparing for a road game that always carries extra weight in this rivalry.

The one wrinkle this week has nothing to do with the opponent and everything to do with the weather, as Georgias coaches are keeping an eye on a tropical storm that could alter conditions around the game. Griffin also talked about his own performance and the role he is trying to fill for the Bulldogs, adding another layer to a matchup where Georgias mindset appears settled even if the setting is not. Georgias Line Faces Its Biggest Test Yet At Alabama

Earnest Greene III has been around enough Georgia-Alabama games to know the tenor changes fast once September gives way to a trip to Tuscaloosa. The veteran left tackle talked this week about past matchups with the Crimson Tide and the value of continuity along the offensive line, where chemistry can matter as much as brute strength when the opponent across from you is as demanding as Alabamas defense.

Greene said he feels healthy and ready for the challenge, and for Georgia that matters because the job description is clear: keep Gunner Stockton upright and give the offense a chance to function under pressure. The Bulldogs know what this type of road test usually asks of a line, and Greenes experience adds a steadying presence as Georgia heads into one of its most difficult measuring sticks. [Read more 🡒]
