CJ Cypher is back where he started this race: at No. 1.
The Carrollton sophomore has been circling the top of the Georgia QB Index all season, and Week 9 finally pushed him back to the front. Five touchdown passes Friday helped him separate from the pack, even with Aidan McPherson and Jordan Wiggins putting together strong seasons of their own.
Cypher was sharp in Carrollton’s 62-13 win over Northgate, finishing 17 of 21 for 315 yards and five scores as the Trojans improved to 8-0. The bigger picture is even cleaner: he now has 2,400 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and zero interceptions this year. That kind of production is hard to ignore.
McPherson didn’t do anything wrong in his latest outing. He was perfect through the air, going 13-for-13 for 211 yards and two touchdowns, and he also ran for 133 yards and another score in a 63-7 win over Tift County. But Cypher’s season-long case is too strong to keep him off the top spot.
Wiggins stayed put because Northeast had the week off. Even without a game, his numbers still hold up: 1,943 passing yards and 25 touchdown passes through seven games. That keeps him firmly in the top three.
A few other quarterbacks made noise in a hurry. Ethan Tisdale forced his way back into the Top 10 after a big performance in a ranked matchup, completing 14 of 19 passes for 208 yards and four touchdowns while adding 52 rushing yards and another score in Heard County’s 33-13 win over Bremen. With Heard County moving to 7-0, that was enough to put him right back on the board.
Kamden Patterson also put up a massive stat line even though Baldwin came up short. Against Troup, he threw for 465 yards and four touchdowns, though the 63-32 loss was blemished by two interceptions. Still, with 2,359 passing yards and 26 touchdowns in seven games, the numbers keep him impossible to overlook.
There was also room for some movement from quarterbacks whose teams weren’t in action. Monroe Area was idle, but Shumate’s season still carries serious weight. He has rushed for 1,532 yards and 18 touchdowns while leading the Purple Hurricanes to a 7-0 start.
Felix turned in another efficient outing for Bradwell Institute, completing 16 of 23 passes for 250 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 41-27 win over Greenbrier. It wasn’t the seven-touchdown fireworks he’s had before, but it was clean and productive.
Tucker Parson worked his way back in after one of his best games of the year. Following Hart County’s first loss, he responded with 348 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 36-30 win over Elbert County. Through eight games, he has 1,805 passing yards and 22 touchdowns.
Lawson kept things short and effective in Lee County’s 37-0 win over Northside, completing 11 of 14 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns before leaving after the first half.
And even in a loss, Peacock stayed relevant. He broke free for a 74-yard touchdown run, but Walton fell 35-28 to North Cobb. His recent passing and rushing production still keeps him inside the Index, though the defeat and several big performances elsewhere pushed him down the list.

Georgia May Be Missing A Crucial Defender Against Florida
Georgias secondary could be in a tricky spot again this week as KJ Bolden works his way back from the injury he suffered against Alabama. The safety already sat out the Auburn game, and his absence was noticeable in a defense that struggled without one of its more reliable pieces. For a team heading into Florida, any question at safety carries extra weight.
Kirby Smart said Bolden is hopeful to return, but he still has to get through the doctors protocol before being cleared. That leaves Georgia waiting on one of its key defenders at a time when the Bulldogs would prefer as much stability as possible, especially with a rival on deck and the defense still trying to settle back in after a rough stretch. Georgia Suddenly Has A Real Fight To Keep Jayden Wade
Georgias grip on its 2028 quarterback commitment is suddenly being tested, with five-star signal caller Jayden Wade reportedly set for a visit to Michigan this weekend. For the Bulldogs, that changes the tone of a recruitment that looked far more settled before the Wolverines entered the picture, especially with a player of Wades caliber drawing attention this early in the cycle.
The question now is whether Michigan can convince Wade its path is worth a serious look, even with concerns about quarterback development lingering around the program. Bryce Underwoods benching has not gone unnoticed, and the Wolverines could also try to make the pitch more appealing with a major NIL package, though it is unclear whether that kind of offer will actually come together. Georgia Just Lost Ground In A Key Recruiting Battle
Georgias 2027 recruiting class took a hit when linebacker Temorris Campbell backed off his commitment, a notable development for a group that had already been trying to build momentum early. Campbell had pledged to Georgia in May and arrived with a strong reputation, standing among the top linebackers in the country and one of the best at his position in Florida.
The timing matters because Georgia still has only one linebacker pledged in the class, Joakim Gouda, even as the Bulldogs remain ninth nationally in 247Sports team rankings. Losing ground with a player like Campbell does not end the pursuit, but it does put a little more pressure on the staff to steady the board and keep pace in a recruiting race that is still very much taking shape.
