In a major recruiting coup, Georgia has secured the commitment of Caden Harris, a standout prospect from Brownsville, Tennessee's Haywood High School. Harris, who was once Vanderbilt's top-rated commitment, chose the Bulldogs over 38 other programs last June. Standing at 6 feet and weighing 160 pounds, Harris made his decision after visiting Georgia for a spring practice and taking an official visit on June 6.
Reflecting on his decision, Harris shared, "I'm a man of my word. Coach Donte and I had a conversation prior to my commitment, so I for sure had to at least come see what was offered to me.
All of it was important. I retained a lot of information that was needed, so overall it'll all tie in together.
The message has been that I'm wanted, and they'll continue to push for me."
Harris' senior year highlights showcase his versatility and impact on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he recorded 17 tackles, two tackles for loss, a shared sack, an interception, and four pass breakups.
On offense, he was equally impressive with 24 carries for 331 yards and four touchdowns, along with 24 receptions for 383 yards and five touchdowns. He also contributed on special teams with two punt returns for 91 yards and a touchdown.
His junior year stats were equally impressive, with 30 tackles, seven pass breakups, and an interception on defense, and 37 catches for 782 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense. As a sophomore, Harris made 34 tackles, two pass breakups, and an interception, while catching 27 passes for 484 yards and six touchdowns.
Ranked as the No. 99 overall prospect and the No. 9 cornerback in the nation by 247Sports, Harris is also the No. 4 overall recruit in Tennessee. The 247Sports Composite has him as the No. 94 overall recruit, the No. 10 cornerback nationally, and the No. 3 prospect in Tennessee.
According to Andrew Ivins, National Director of Recruiting at 247Sports, Harris is a "natural coverage corner with the twitch and speed to hang with weapons on the outside." Although lean, he tested exceptionally well prior to his senior year and boasts one of the best broad jumps in his class.
Harris is adept in both press-man and off-man coverage, demonstrating impressive agility and ball skills, which he also showcased as a wide receiver. While he could benefit from adding some strength, his ability to break on the football and his explosive lower half make him a promising defensive back with potential nickel versatility for a College Football Playoff contender.
Harris' commitment to Georgia adds significant depth to their defensive backfield and highlights the Bulldogs' continued success in attracting top-tier talent.
