The Raiders will open their 2026 season Sunday against Miami, but Brock Bowers won’t be part of the picture in Week 1.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the third-year tight end had a meniscus trim on Tuesday, a move that knocks him out for the opener and puts his status for Week 2 in play. Schefter reported that there’s a realistic chance Bowers misses only one game and could return when Las Vegas visits the Los Angeles Chargers.

That would be a welcome development for a Raiders offense that is now being run by Kirk Cousins and is already starting the year without one of its most dangerous weapons.
Bowers has dealt with knee issues for much of the past season, and his 2025 campaign ended with five games left after he was placed on injured reserve. He had produced 680 receiving yards and seven touchdowns before that setback, following a huge rookie year in 2024 when he posted 1,194 yards, 112 catches and five scores.
For now, Las Vegas moves ahead without him. The Raiders host the Dolphins at Allegiant Stadium at 4:25 p.m.
ET, with CBS carrying the game. If Bowers is cleared in time for Week 2, his return would come in a divisional matchup with the Chargers in Los Angeles.
