Hurricane Isaias is forcing a change of plans for one of college football’s biggest Week 6 stages, and Donald Trump is part of the fallout.
Trump had been set to attend Alabama’s showdown with Georgia at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night, but that trip is off, according to Tuscaloosa Patch reporter Ryan Phillips. The former president had initially planned to make the game after going to Tennessee-Texas in Knoxville on Sept. 26, his second SEC game in a few weeks.
He had already told supporters at a rally in Mobile last week that he would be at the game Saturday evening.
The weather, though, has taken over the story. Hurricane Isaias is moving through the southern states and is expected to bring ugly conditions to the matchup between the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs.
The storm is listed as a Category 3 with wind speeds above 120 miles per hour, and as of 4:30 p.m. ET it was expected to make landfall near the Alabama-Florida border before Saturday morning.
The storm has already pushed ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Coleman Coliseum, the 15,000-plus seat arena that houses Alabama’s basketball team. Even with the weather concerns, college football officials currently have no plans to cancel the game.
And it’s still a heavyweight SEC meeting: Alabama enters Week 6 ranked No. 2 in the AP Top 25, with Georgia right behind at No. 6.
The game is set for Oct. 10 on ABC, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Georgia-Alabama Suddenly Has A Weather Threat Fans Can't Ignore
A storm system that has already forced evacuations along the Gulf Coast is now creating an uneasy backdrop for Saturday nights Georgia-Alabama game, even as Alabama says it has not changed its plans. Hurricane Isaias has strengthened into a Category 3 storm, and while several other college football games have already been shuffled or scrapped because of the weather, this one remains on the schedule for now.
The concern is less about the start time than the path ahead, with the National Weather Service forecasting the storm to affect central Alabama on Saturday afternoon before moving on through Tennessee and Kentucky. For Georgia fans making the trip, it adds another layer of uncertainty to a marquee matchup that was already going to draw plenty of attention before weather entered the conversation. [Read more 🡒]
Kirby Smart Faces A Huge Alabama Chance Georgia Fans Know Well
Nick Sabans praise landed with real weight around Georgia, calling the Bulldogs the most complete team he has seen this season and pointing to the balance on both sides of the ball. It is the kind of compliment that only adds to the urgency around what comes next, because Georgia has built itself into a team that can win with scoring, with defense, and with the sort of depth that keeps it in the conversation no matter the setting.
For Kirby Smart, the upcoming Alabama game is about more than another marquee matchup. It sits right in the middle of a familiar road for Georgia fans, one that has shaped his legacy, tested his record against the Tide, and helped define the Bulldogs SEC championship push. With Kalen DeBoer now leading Alabama, the stakes feel new in some ways, but the significance for Smart and Georgia remains the same. [Read more 🡒]
Georgia's Early 2028 Surge Has Kirby Smart Building Something Big
Georgias 2028 recruiting picture got another boost with the addition of safety Nick Carroll, a prospect whose early commitment gives Kirby Smarts staff more momentum in the class. Carroll is already regarded as one of the better defensive backs in the cycle, and his decision adds to a Georgia group that has been climbing in the national rankings while the cycle is still in its early stages.
For the Bulldogs, the appeal is as much about where the class stands now as where it could go next. Carroll gives Georgia another highly regarded in-state piece to build around, and his pledge helps keep the program positioned among the early leaders as Smart continues to stack talent for the future.
