Florida State is gearing up for a pivotal weekend in Tallahassee as they host their annual Legacy Weekend, a marquee recruiting event that draws both former players and prospective recruits. This year’s lineup promises excitement, featuring some of the top targets for the Seminoles' 2027 class.
Quarterback Spotlight
The Seminoles will have their eyes on Champ Monds, a three-star quarterback from Vero Beach, Florida. Monds has long been on FSU’s radar, and this visit could be crucial as his recruitment journey nears its conclusion. With competition from Florida, Miami, Ohio State, and Notre Dame, the Seminoles are hoping to make a lasting impression.
Running Back Prospects
FSU will welcome two standout running backs: four-star Gary Walker and three-star Marquis Fennell. Walker, a traditional back, has become a top priority since Kam Martin joined the coaching staff.
His return to campus marks a significant step, with an official visit already planned for June. Stanford, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Penn State are also in the mix for Walker.
Fennell, known for his versatility, is another exciting prospect. His second visit in a short span underscores FSU’s interest. The Seminoles face competition from Stanford and Colorado for the Valdosta, Georgia, native.
Tight End Targets
Three-star tight end George Lamons Jr. from Quitman, Georgia, will be in attendance. While he has four official visits planned, none are to FSU yet-making this visit crucial for the Seminoles to secure a spot on his schedule. Longtime FSU commit Connor Winn will also return to campus.
Offensive Line Focus
Shavezz Dixon, a three-star offensive lineman from Leesburg, Georgia, has become a priority for FSU. His return visit could solidify his interest. Additionally, the Seminoles will host 2028 prospect John O'Dwyer from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Edge Rusher Extravaganza
The Edge position is stacked with talent this weekend. Fred Ards, a highly coveted player, will revisit after a January trip.
Florida currently leads his recruitment, but FSU aims to change that narrative. Alongside Ards, blue-chip edge rushers Abraham Sesay, Jabarrius Garror, and Rashad Streets will be present.
Garror, fresh off a decommitment from Alabama, is particularly intriguing for FSU’s JACK position.
Linebacker Lineup
Three-star commit Gregory Batson and Olrick Johnson III, an offered linebacker, will join the festivities. Batson’s return is promising for FSU, while Johnson is seen as a versatile defensive asset.
As the Seminoles prepare to host these promising athletes, the stakes are high. Legacy Weekend offers a prime opportunity for FSU to strengthen its future roster and build lasting relationships with some of the brightest talents in the 2027 class.
