No. 3 Florida State heads to Gainesville on Sunday looking to keep a remarkable run rolling when it meets Florida at 2 p.m. The match will air on the SEC Network.
The Seminoles arrive with plenty of momentum. Dating back to last year’s national-title run, Florida State has strung together nine straight wins and a 13-game unbeaten streak. The shutout numbers are just as eye-catching: five consecutive clean sheets, with sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene in the middle of a four-game shutout streak of her own.
Florida State is 3-0-0 to start the season and has done it without allowing a goal. Through three matches, the Seminoles have scored nine times and spread the production around, with seven different players finding the net.
Tanner Strickland is the only FSU player with multiple goals so far, and she also has an assist for a team-leading five points. Sam Erbach sits next with four points, thanks to a goal and two assists.
Ashley Henderson and Anaiyah Robinson have each added two assists, and five Seminoles have at least one assist on the year. Ockene has two shutouts, while Fernanda Mayrink picked up the other in a 2-0 win over FIU.
Florida comes in at 1-1-0 after a split to open 2026. The Gators dropped their season opener at UCF, 4-3, on Thursday, August 13th, then bounced back with a 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina in their home opener on Thursday, August 20th.
Kyra Taylor leads the way with two goals and four points. Katie Johnston and Zoe Main each have a goal and an assist, and Johnston delivered the winner against the Chanticleers.
Main and Taylor have accounted for 15 of Florida’s 43 shots through two games. In goal, Paloma Peña has given up six goals in 135 minutes with one save, while Jayden Emmanuel has played 45 minutes without allowing a goal and made one save.
Emmanuel got the win against Coastal Carolina. Florida is in its first season under head coach Nick Zimmerman.
The recent history between these programs has tilted heavily toward Florida State. The Seminoles beat the Gators 5-0 in last season’s meeting and own an 18-13-0 edge in the series, including a 9-7 record in Gainesville.
FSU has won eight straight in the rivalry, the longest run for either side since the teams first played in 1995. Over that stretch, the Seminoles have outscored Florida 24-3, posted four straight shutouts and blanked the Gators in six of the eight meetings.
Brian Pensky has not lost to Florida since taking over at FSU.
