Florida State’s latest win gave the Seminoles more than a mark in the standings. It handed them a jolt of confidence, and, maybe more importantly, a chance to show they’re handling success the right way.
That matters because this was no ordinary victory for Mike Norvell’s team. The Seminoles needed it badly, the kind of game that can shape the whole direction of a season. Had it gone the other way, the conversation around the program could have turned ugly in a hurry, with Florida State sitting at 2-3 and staring at a tough stretch ahead.
Instead, the Noles are now over .500, own an ACC win against a quality opponent, and head into the heart of the schedule with some real momentum. What they do with that momentum will tell the story from here. If the group carries the right lessons out of last weekend, the rest of the year could look very different.
Wide receiver Micahi Danzy’s comments on the team’s approach after the win point in exactly that direction.

That’s the kind of mindset Florida State fans wanted to hear. The team has confidence now, and both sides of the ball have reasons to feel good, especially the defense.
But the message coming out of the locker room is not about lingering on what just happened. It’s about moving straight to the next one.
That’s easier said than done after a win like this. A lot of these players haven’t had many chances to celebrate lately. Beyond the Alabama game, most of Florida State’s biggest victories over the past few years have come against teams in a clearly different class, and plenty of those bright moments have come surrounded by frustrating losses.
This season has already had its highs and lows, but Florida State has been able to push through them with a simple “this week is all that matters” attitude. If the Seminoles keep that edge, keep building, and keep believing in what they’ve shown, there are not many teams that will want to see them coming.
It’s fair to say Florida State looks like a team that has turned a corner. Now the challenge is proving it again, and living out Danzy’s words when the next game arrives.

Kam Taylor Has A Huge Chance On Florida States New-Look Roster
Florida State heads into the 2026-27 season with a roster that looks almost nothing like the one before it, and that gives Kam Taylor a real opening to make an immediate impact. The transfer from UNC Asheville arrives in Tallahassee with a reputation for athleticism and playmaking, plus the sort of scoring rsum that suggests he can handle a major role right away.
With 12 newcomers set to make up much of the Seminoles new-look group, the early chemistry questions will be as important as any individual skill set. Taylor should be one of the most watched names when Florida State opens exhibition play against Mississippi State on Oct. 10, because the Seminoles will need to find out quickly who can help shape this roster into something cohesive. Ashton Daniels Just Put Florida States Offense In A New Spotlight
Ashton Daniels breakout against Virginia did more than add another convincing win to Florida States rsum. It pushed the Seminoles offense into a new conversation, with the quarterback landing on the Davey OBrien Great 8 and the Midseason Watch List after a performance that paired efficient passing with a relentless ground game in the 38-7 rout. Daniels completed 12 passes for 183 yards, ran for 136 yards and helped the Seminoles control the game from start to finish.
The bigger takeaway is how quickly Daniels has turned one big afternoon into national recognition, while also giving Florida State a clear centerpiece for the stretch run. He was named ACC Quarterback of the Week after setting multiple school and conference marks, and teammate Andre Otto also drew league honors as ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week. The numbers from that Virginia game will get plenty of attention, but the real question now is how high Daniels can keep raising the bar. [Read more 🡒]
Florida State Faces A Short-Week Test As Friday Games Pile Up
Florida State is about to spend a lot of time under the Friday night lights this season, with three short-week games on the slate against Louisville, Pittsburgh and Florida. For Mike Norvell, that means a different kind of weekly rhythm, one that compresses preparation and puts a premium on how quickly the Seminoles can reset after a Saturday finish and move on to a Friday kickoff.
The timing comes at a pretty good moment for a team still gathering confidence, especially with Ashton Daniels coming off a big week of recognition. Daniels was named both ACC quarterback of the week and Davey OBrien quarterback of the week after setting a school record with five rushing touchdowns against Virginia, a performance that gave Florida State a notable spark heading into the stretch run and another challenge with the schedule tightening around it.
