Meshi Dobson is making waves as one of the premier edge rushers in South Florida's 2028 class, but change might be on the horizon. Dobson is contemplating a move up to the 2027 class, a decision that could reshape his college football trajectory.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 235 pounds, Dobson is already attracting attention from top programs like Ohio State, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, Syracuse, and Oklahoma. His recent visit to Florida State, where he toured their new football-only facility, left a strong impression.
"I just finished a visit to Florida State. It's a new facility they got up there and it's pretty nice. I like their program," Dobson shared, highlighting the Seminoles' appeal.
FSU's new edge rushers coach, Nick Williams, has made a significant impact on Dobson. "I think coach Nick Williams, he's a very brave and intelligent guy.
He puts a lot of energy into it when talking to me," Dobson noted. "He shows a lot of love.
Other coaches, they'll just talk to you, but Nick, he brings that energy."
Closer to home, the Miami Hurricanes are also in the mix. Head coach Mario Cristobal recently visited Dobson at his school, emphasizing the Hurricanes' interest.
"Mario Cristobal, he had came to the school and we had a talk. We was talking about how their game went," Dobson recalled.
Currently playing for Plantation High School, Dobson has not yet been ranked by 247Sports but already boasts 26 scholarship offers. His sophomore season stats are impressive: 72 total tackles, 31 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks.
As Dobson weighs his options, the anticipation builds. Whether he reclassifies or not, his path to college football promises to be an exciting journey.
