Florida State's basketball program is buzzing with excitement under head coach Luke Loucks, who has the team finding its stride in ACC play. Their recent comeback victory over Boston College has fans eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.
The Seminoles have secured an impressive 2026 recruiting class, featuring four standout players, three of whom are blue-chip prospects. Ranked 11th nationally, this class could climb even higher if Loucks continues to work his recruiting magic.
In a recent development, Martay Barnes, one of the top talents from the 2027 class, has announced his decision to reclassify to 2026. He’s scheduled official visits with Florida State and Auburn, with the Seminoles set to host him last-a strategic advantage in recruiting circles.
Barnes, a 6'2", 170-pound shooting guard from The Academy of Central Florida in Orlando, is ranked as the No. 54 player and the No. 4 shooting guard in his class. His potential addition to the Seminoles would be a significant boost for Loucks as he builds his program.
While Auburn is in the mix, their basketball program is currently hovering just above .500, similar to Florida State, both led by first-year head coaches. Auburn’s 2026 recruiting class includes just one three-star point guard, whereas Florida State has already added two promising shooting guards, Brandon Bass and Collin Paul, known for their size and length.
Loucks has been gaining momentum, especially after a recent victory over rival Miami, a game Barnes plans to attend. Securing Barnes would not only enhance the team’s roster but also bolster Loucks’ growing reputation as a skilled recruiter early in his coaching career.
